Finally a repalcement for his favorite discontinued shave cream.
By Melissa on Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2025
After trying shave cream after shave cream. Trying to find something even remotely silimar to the discontinued charcoal neutrogena he used to use. I think we finally found it. This shave cream has incredible slip, safety razor didn't catch once. Just slid right over. Is "re-wettable" if it starts drying out on your face (rubbing it in too much or just taking your time) just lightly adding some water to your finger tips and rubbing it in adds moisture back in, rehydrates nicely. No missed spots - after my bf used it he didn’t miss a single spot. Almost every other one he has tried recently just patches that he would miss and then have to do a few clean ups. It drove him crazy. This new one. He came out and not a single spot missed, easily got right up below the nose, the side of the neck, the nape of the neck, side burns, chin. He said it was a really pleasant and nice shave also. Clean up was easy, the cream didnt glob on and get stuck in the razor. Rinsed out completely. And any left behind on the face risned off with ease. Just kind of melts off. Left his face soft and moisturized feeling. No dry tight feeling. He didnt feel the need to put on aftershave, which he's always had to do, to help add some moisture back in. The sandalwood scent is really pleasant. Its not so strong I can smell it acorss the room. Its just a nice need to be up close to smell it scent. Finally a shave cream that doesn't lather and you don't need to use a shave brush to apply. Hes super happy with it.

Don’t believe the hype
By J. W. on Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2024
The Cremo shave cream is… interesting, but not for me. I picked up three versions: Refreshing Mint, Silver Water and Birch, and Sage and Citrus. The latter 2 sounded like interesting scents, but they really don’t smell good- in an off-putting way that just leaves me not wanting to shave. The Mint is pretty good, though, it’s definitely my favorite of the trio. I just have to be in the mood for a “sucking brisk air through your teeth as you barrel down a snow covered mountain bare-faced” splash of water after shaving. It’s maximally “refreshing”. Cremo makes a bunch of bold claims regarding nicks, razor-burn, and shaving “against the grain”. After a few weeks of comparative shaves with a 3 bladed disposable cartridge razor (Gillette Mach 3) and a few double-edged safety razors ranging from “gentle” to “aggressive” I don’t think there’s any real, quantifiable difference. After using an alum block and decent aftershave, razor technique matters more. As other reviewers mention, you’re going to be hard-pressed to use “almond-sized” dollops and stretch out a bottle to last 90 days- unless you really enjoy spending 10 minutes trying to squeegee it across your face. It’s a thick, sticky, putty-like consistency that doesn’t easily lend itself to spreading. It goes on thin like grease-paint and then dries a little too fast for comfort. Although they mention you can just rewet it, which is a neat trick. The flip-side to this, however, is that it’s a pain to rinse off. Pretty much like trying to get greasy paste off. I found it worked best to use a towel to wipe off as much as possible, and then rinse. It gums up razors pretty good too once mixed with beard trimmings. Don’t even think of trying to use a shaving brush. Think I’ll squeeze it into smallish tubes and throw it in my dop kit for when I travel.
