Natural Toothpaste: A Dentist’s Choice for Safe, Effective Oral Care
By 2th Doc on Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2025
As a dentist with over 40 years of experience, I’ve evaluated countless dental home care products. Recently, I’ve prioritized safer, natural ingredients for my patients and myself, focusing on what we put into our bodies. Tom’s of Maine Natural Simply White Toothpaste (Sweet Mint) is a standout. Its naturally derived ingredients, like silica for whitening and xylitol for cavity prevention, deliver results without artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. The ADA-approved fluoride strengthens enamel, and the gentle formula suits sensitive teeth. It foams well, tastes refreshing, and leaves teeth clean. I feel confident recommending Tom’s for safe, effective oral care!

Caused Sensitivity
By Samantha Chase Anderson on Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2025
I take good care of my teeth; I time my brushes for 3mn so that I do not overbrush, I use a waterpik twice with two different heads, I use one of those plaque removers, and I brush my tongue. I have been sticking to this regiment for years, and it works for me. What I have been experimenting with is trying to find a more natural toothpaste. I have used Sensodyne Pronamel for most of my life. I tried out BOKA, and that was great. I still felt that it had too many ingredients for "natural", so I tried out Tom's. After a short amount of time using this toothpaste, I noticed that my teeth started to feel sensitive while brushing and flossing. Such a nasty painful feeling that makes me cringe. I stopped using that toothpaste and used "MI Paste Plus" in order to fix that sensitivity problem. I used the paste until my teeth felt normal again. I was not going to give up on Tom's just yet, so I tried it again. Needless to say, I had three teeth that ended up hurting again. I have given up on Tom's. I have an unopened box and one that is at least 75% full. I am actually thankful for this blessing in disguise because it pushed me to make my own toothpaste. I have been contemplating making my own paste for at least two years, and I have finally done it. My teeth feel great and I am happy using the least amount of healthy ingredients I can. It is affective.
