Every carpet tells a story. Whether through a complex arrangement of symbolic abstract designs, an accidental collection of intriguing stains, or a portrait of a snarling Rottweiler, they carry meanings and messages as surely as they carry dust and smashed Doritos.
So goes the rationale behind the Strawberry Fields Project, which invited contemporary artists and designers to create nontraditional carpets in their own idioms and drawing on their own backgrounds. Richard Hutten's hand-knotted entry tells me he spent a lot of time on the Internet back in the dial-up days.
