March is the month when everyone goes crazy for basketball. But we figured, why let basketball players have all the fun? So for those of you who are less athletically inclined and more eat-letically inclined, we’ve set up a March Sandwichness bracket. Come back to Woot! every day to vote and help us decide which sandwich is the king of all things lunch!

All you have to do to participate is go to the polls and vote for your favorite sandwiches! It’s that easy! It’s even easier than it would be to actually eat the sandwiches! But probably a little less tasty.

Check back on Woot! tomorrow to see the winners from today’s poll and vote on the next round!

YESTERDAY'S WINNERS:

(1) Cheeseburger defeated (5) Hamburger
(3) Grilled Cheese defeated (2) BLT
(4) Crab Cake defeated (1) Lobster Roll
(6) Gyros defeated (7) Italian Sub
(1) Cheesesteak defeated (12) French Dip
(7) Pulled Pork defeated (11) Fried Chicken
(1) Breakfast defeated (5) Croque-Madame
(2) Thanksgiving Leftover defeated (3) Cookie Ice Cream

The winners are in from our Sweet and Salty Sixteen!

Chicken Biscuit didn’t stand a chance against Cheeseburger, our number one seed from the Classic division and the odds-on-favorite of our competition. The Seafood Showdown proved to be as tough of a match as we expected, with the two competitors (Lobster Roll and Crab Cake) locked in a dead heat for most of the day. I think the lesson we’ve all learned here is that we should never make ourselves choose between decadent seafood sandwiches, which is why I’m about to go to invent the Crab-Lobster-Cake Sandwich as soon as I’m done with this post. (No one steal my idea, ok?)

In other developments, Breakfast slaughtered Croque-Madame by a wide margin. It looks like Breakfast has its eyes on the prize. And Thanksgiving continues to have a firm hold on victory; now that it knocked the ever-decadent Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich out of the running, we officially have no sweet sandwiches left in the competition, only savory ones. Was there ever really a chance that a sweet sandwich could go all the way, though?

Now we move on to our Elite Eight Sandwiches. Cheeseburger may finally see some competition when it’s pitted against the classic and comfortable Grilled Cheese (out of all the sandwiches, I feel like Grilled Cheese would make the best friend). Meanwhile Cheesesteak and Pulled Pork duke it out in a battle that can only be described as “wet and meaty” and Breakfast is finally going to have to fight to defend its place when it’s pitted against the piled-high force of the Thanksgiving Leftover. Plus, Crab Cake clawed (get it? get it?!) its way out of the last round, but will it have enough momentum to take on the formidable Gyros? Let us know what you think: Vote now!
