Pink, as described by the artist Anna Mat, is energetic and funky, like the majority of her work. Anna grew up in a small town in Poland, during the communism era where everything was grey and monotonous. With the lack of color around me and simplicity of officially approved forms caused me to create my own imaginary colorful world. The inspiration to do so did not come from drab and dull, everyday town surroundings but from nature and art in church which I experienced due to my Christian upbringing and attending Sunday mass in church.

On yearly stage images of saints people which I was watching on renaissance painting provoked me to create my own,(inside) colorful images but also the suffering on there faces where influence me to the way I could later on express dark side of my own soul. Also other influences are elements of stained glass.

So today I'm combining my previous inspirations with my contra to church showing emotions and uncovering “weaknesses”, emotions of “regular people” without judging.
Although as an adult I turn away from ""church life""but I believe that religious aspect still have a big impact on my current art life, emotional darkness, intensive colors, self analyzing nature.
