About the Wright Flyer:
- A plane that really needs no introduction, but just in case you've never heard of it the Kitty Hawk was the first airplane ever
- Designed and built by the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur
- Prior to its maiden flight there had never before been a powered, piloted, and human-controlled heavier-than-air aircraft in the world
- The Wright Flyer was a canard biplane configuration based on the Wrights' experience testing gliders at Kitty Hawk between 1900 and 1902
- Made primarily of giant spruce, a new kind of engine was designed for it, powered by a sprocket chain drive with hand-made twin propellers
