Perfect Feeders for Hummingbird Watchers!
By Realtor Kathy on Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2025
The hummingbirds love this. It's easy to fill but the first few times it's a bit tough getting the prongs pinched so the bottom can come off. Once you get the hang of it, it's a great little feeder. I now have 3 new ones but have had a couple for 2 years. Eventually the back prongs cracked and broke, but they work great and we can enjoy watching the birds every morning and night.

Hummers love it but poor design -- this hack will extend the life of this feeder
By RDP on Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2023
The hummingbirds love this little window feeder! And I enjoy watching the hummers as I'm fussing at the kitchen sink. But as many others have reported, the design is flawed leading to the critical plastic stems breaking off. I've tried other window feeders, but this is the one the hummers prefer. TRY MY HACK: The red bottom affixes to the clear plastic holder by two plastic stems, each with a short flat prong that fits into a slot on the clear plastic well. The pronged stems provide a good grip onto the plastic well (never leaks). But you have to squeeze the two stems together to release the prongs from the plastic well every time you need to refill it. This repeated action very quickly breaks off one or both of the stems rendering the feeder useless (I tried affixing a broken bottom to the holder with rubber bands and tape but the sugar water leaks out). After re-ordering this feeder multiple times I tried this reinforcement hack and it's worked wonderfully! Get 2 toothpicks and some gel crazy glue. Break off the pointed end of the toothpick so that the length of the toothpick runs from the bottom edge of the red feeder along the length of the stem, stopping at the prong. Glue the toothpicks in place being very careful to not allow the glue to run into the well of the feeder (the hummers would not like that). This reinforcement hack prolongs the life of the stems/prongs. It also makes it a bit more difficult to remove the red feeding dish--just carefully squeeze the stems together while nudging the opposite side of the red dish off of the clear well. I've been using this for months now with no leakage and no sign that the stems are weakening. Cleaning: It's hard to clean the red feeder dish with the plastic flowers inserted, but I don't want to pop them out every time I clean it. So I've bent one of my bottle brushes to have a curved edge to get around the corners, and that does the trick. Keep an eye on the seams of the clear plastic container--I've found mold will grow into the seams and my bottle brushes just can't remove it. Even a cotton swab dibbed in bleach has difficulty removing the mold, but that is the best solution I've found. The suction is very good; I've had one fall after about a year's steady use. Soaked the suction cup in warm water, cleaned the window and popped it back on. I've had no issues with bees or ants.
