American Crew Men's Hair Fiber

This used to be my go-to hair product. It is by far the best performing high hold/matte finish product out there for men. It emulsifies nicely in your hands with a few seconds of effort, spreads evenly through your hair, holds well throughout the day, and washes out without too much difficulty. I have not found a direct competitor that works as well. Unfortunately I don't use it anymore after becoming aware of how bad parabens are for men. AC Fiber contains both ethylparaben and methylparaben, which are documented to reduce testosterone levels and interfere with male fertility. It's ironic that American Crew markets itself as this icon of classic American masculinity, when its products are full of a chemical that's partly responsible for the massive decline in testosterone levels in recent decades. Look it up! I haven't been able to find a direct replacement for Fiber that's paraben-free, but these days I style my hair with Barrel and Oak Conditioning Cream, which holds nicely through the day and washes out easily. It's a bit shinier and smellier than Fiber but I'll put up with that for zero parabens.
