amazingness

This is an amazing product! Why do people still wear tampons/pads? Really?!?! It takes some getting used to, but I definitely recommend giving it a try. I would recommend wearing something else the first couple of tries, this will give you some time to get used to it without ruining your undies. Once you get used to it though, watch out... it's like not having a period! I've never felt so fresh and clean during a period. For the faint of heart... from here on out there will be TMI: I am a heavy bleeder, and normally I would wear a tampon and a pad at the same time and change ever 4-6 hours. With this I can go 8-12 hours and no leaking! NO LEAKING! You have no idea how this has changed my life. I can now sleep at night without getting up to change twice. I used to wear dark colored underwear during my monthly visits because even with the pad and tampon I would still get leakage. No more leakage... I don't even need a liner! I can wear any pair of panties I like with no fear of ruining them! You know that feeling you get when you have been sitting for a while and you stand up and you feel gushing and you're wondering if you had an accident? NO MORE! Savings & Environmentally Friendly! This thing will pay for itself in 4-6 months because you will not be buying feminine products... not only that but I used to go through toilet paper like no other... not anymore!! I used to get the feminine wet wipes, will no longer be using those either! I can see hundreds of saved dollars every year in my future... doing to try bank rolling it! Think of all the landfills that we could save space in if all the ladies in the world used these things instead of disposables. FAQ's (TMI TMI! The down and dirty) If you are like me you are probably curious about many things. Like how do you put it in? I fold it by pressing one side inward so it kind of makes a crooked cone shape. Then I put the tip of the cone between my index and middle finger along where I folded it and push it in. I have found that if I sit down my muscles are more relaxed and it goes in easier. You want it to go in so far that you don't feel the cup, but you can still feel the little tip thing with your fingers. At first I had a slight fear about not being able to get it out, or that I 'lost' it. This is not possible, just breath, and open your legs wider, and spread apart your labia with your fingers. You will eventually find the tip, then you just pull it out. Another question, do you feel it? When I first inserted it I did feel something but it's barely noticeable and not at all painful... then after about 5 minutes I don't feel anything at all as your body just gets used to it being there. It looks rather large, but do not let this deter you from using it, it will fit, you can push babies out of your V and this is no where near that big. It's about the size (give or take) of a penis. I did notice that if you don't put it in far enough, you will feel a little discomfort, so don't be afraid to push it in further. You do feel it when you pull it out, and I recommend pulling it out slowly so you don't spill or splatter anything. Another thought that might pop up is that you may not think the cup is big enough... it is big enough. This is coming from a heavy bleeder. There is plenty of space for all your fluid. On my heavy day/s (sometimes I only have one, but other times it's two) after 12 hours it got really full, but still no leakage. Anyway... I am not sure why you are still reading this review... go put this thing in your cart now! It's f-ing awesome!

Love/Hate relationship
By M. Navarro on Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2012
I've been using the Diva cup for over a year now. When it works, it works well, but it still can be a pain in the ass. Positives: +Less pads and tampons = money saved, and none of that sour pad smell +You don't have to worry about changing it every couple of hours, can leave it in for a looong time +Works well when I'm laying down, which has always been a problem for me because I have a heavy flow Negatives: - Messy. This is definitely not the product for someone who is not prepared to stick their fingers way up their bloody vagina. - Because it is messy, it can become somewhat of a problem if you are changing it in a public area. I carry around wet wipes with me so that I don't come out of the toilet with blood all over my fingers. - Since I started using the diva cup, I have gotten my first 2 yeast infections, both because of this cup! The first time was 100% the fault of my own ignorance, as I stupidly used soap on the cup once when I had dropped it on the ground. If you don't know, soap is BAD for your nethers. The second time came around because of a conundrum I've encountered. During the summer I worked outside and touched a lot of gross stuff. So, when I went to use the bathroom, I didn't want to touch myself with dirty hands, but if I washed my hand with soap I ran the risk of getting some residue in there. I always tried to thoroughly rinse my hands of any soap but alas, it was not enough and BAM, another yeast infection. (and yes I boil it every month) - It leaks sometimes and there is not a damn thing I can do about it. I will spend 10 minutes in the bathroom taking it in and out, trying all sorts of positions, twisting it to make sure it is suctioned in, but sometimes it STILL leaks. Thus, I always have to wear liners, so I don't get to be 100% pad/liner free with this product like some may suggest. - I still find taking it in and out to be uncomfortable. I've gotten the hang of getting it in there quickly, but to make sure it is in place I have to twist it and push around until I am CERTAIN it is properly fitted, and that is not a comfortable process. Sometimes when it's just not working I have to try all sorts of positions, from squatting to putting my leg up on the bathtub to laying down. Taking it out can also be pretty painful if it's suctioned in too tightly, and I have small fingers but the bulk of the cup plus my fingers around it can be painful around my entrance. - Although sometimes I can't even tell it is in there, I can usually feel it's presence. One of the most uncomfortable feelings is when it's hanging too low and I'm somewhere I can't take it out and put it back in right away, so I may try to subtly push it further in but that never works. So I'm left with this awkward/slightly painful feeling of something hanging out of me, wondering if it's leaking. However, it's honestly USUALLY not really that bothersome/noticeable unless I have to pee, and that leads me to my next complaint... -My biggest grievance is going to the bathroom with it in. It puts some pressure on my bladder so that when I really have to pee it kind of hurts, and then I can't pee all the way without taking the cup out! My pee will literally be stopped up from the cup, I was so confused the first time it happened. I felt like I still had to pee but nothing else was coming out unless I squeezed really hard, so I took out the cup and it was like releasing a dam! SUMMARY: Although I have a lot more negatives than positives, I still continue to use the diva cup every month because I STILL prefer it over pads/tampons. All my complaints are small annoyances that I can get over (except for the yeast infections, boil the cup and NEVER wash with soap and make sure there is no soap on your fingers or you will be sorry). I don't think it is as perfect/wonderful as many users suggest, it has it's flaws and annoyances that after all this time have not gotten better, but overall it still gets the job done and I only have to deal with it 5 days a month!
