Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt 3 Pound Box

I am not sure why people love this particular salt. So much hype that people convince themselves it HAS to be good because even professionals rave about it?? Lots of recommendations to me as "the best salt" and I am sorry to say that I do not agree. I was unsure the moment I poured it into my salt keeper - the texture is so insanely fine that it's like dust. I mostly salt by hand vs. measuring and I know by grip how much salt I want to add - this extra super fine texture makes that nearly impossible. Additionally, the saltiness level was far lower than other brands I have used. I had to keep adding and keep adding - this is extremely frustrating and annoying. I am not even a person who loves things "salty" just seasoned properly and this took way too much guess work and dips in the keeper to get a full flavor profile going. I have been desperately waiting for the day that this giant box would be finished so I could return to my much beloved kosher brand. It is a sizeable box to be sure, but value is only determined by the user - for me, not at all. My family also noticed as dishes started fluctuating from not enough salt to too much salt - which is unusual for me. Skip the learning curve and buy something else. The one thing I think it's kind of nice for is a finishing salt - not too salty, not too flakey and just a soft sprinkle can make things pop - this is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.
