Other reviews scared me....but mine is GREAT!

I don't know if I was just lucky. I've never considered myself to be lucky, so maybe this was just a fluke. But after being scared by tons of negative reviews, I bit the bullet and succumbed to my overwhelming desire to own an enameled dutch oven. To make my purchase even more scary, I did not just order it at the great price of $50 from the regular Amazon....I decided to go to the Amazon Warehouse Deals and got one that was supposed to be in good condition, just repackaged, for $30. Yes. I said $30. (As a side note, if you have never tried Amazon Warehouse Deals....what are you waiting for? Usually the items are in excellent condition but are deeply discounted because perhaps it was a return, or the outer box got a little banged up....but I have never gotten anything that was not excellent from them. My advice is to search there for EVERYTHING you are planning to buy....now...back to the pot....) So it arrived and I went over it with a fine toothed comb looking for any cracks, bubbles in the enamel, any signs of peeling, making sure the lid was ok and fit well......and my pot was perfect. Day one was stew. Day two was soup. I got REALLY adventurous on day four and baked some no-knead bread that I had been dying to try. (Day three was making the dough and letting it rise....that was not a typo.) I was pleased that Lodge decided to start making these pots with metal lid knobs instead of plastic now!!!! This makes the pot heat safe for the oven so now you don't have to either order a LeCreuset knob, or try to nick one off the display model at Bed Bath and Beyond. (I cracked up as I read an article about BB&B complaining that all their LC Dutch Ovens had no knobs on them anymore....they must have "somehow" come loose. BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!). Thank you, Lodge, for being responsive to that issue. But anyway, I have seen no signs that my enamel is going to crack or peel. I did a great bit of research on the care of this type of pot and I am making sure it cools before washing, not using abrasive materials on it, and drying it immediately. I also would like to add that green is not my favorite color, but THIS green is stunning. It looks great on my stove and brightens up my kitchen. It is a real eye catcher. So all in all, although Lodge kinda sold out and started making their enameled stuff in China, I have no complaints at all. It is a good-looking, well made Dutch Oven and now my son thinks I am Queen of The Bread. If anything arises, I will update this review.

Lodge product quality might not be as good as the other brand
By happy527 on Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2016
It is an okay pot. Followed the instructions on how to use the pot, but after the first two uses on the stove I noticed a couple of tiny dots on the bottom on the pot. It seems the enamel has started to lift off the pot. It also has a raised tiny black dot (you can feel it with your finger) on the bottom of the pot the first time I received it, which I believe came from uneven coating (I thought it was a speck of dirt and was trying to remove it at first). The outside paint on the bottom of the pot has also started to get scratches after multiple uses, but perhaps this is a normal wear. Perhaps I might have received an imperfect pot, and other pots might not have any problem. That said, Lodge product quality might not be as good as the other brand. Other than that it works as it should be, cooks food evenly and it is easy to clean.
