1st time Electric Razor Owner&Super Impressed
By John Sipes on Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2015
When I first purchased this item,it was to go with my brand new Panasonic model ES- LA63 Wet/Dry electric razor. My first time using the electric razor, I did not use tje solution...but after using the electric razor for the first time, I was not too happy with how "close" the shave was. The electric razor that I purchased worked great as I have very sensitive skin. My 2nd time using the Elecrtric razor, I tried this solution , and although I was not using it in the shower (which seems to be the best method of getting the closest sgave in opening the pores), & then the added benefit,&proven fact that this solution makes all ones facial hair stand on end, and be easily removed/cut aeay. In a sense, this solution would be an (in between) method of using the Panasonic in the wet, or dry mode. As soon as I had made my first pass(not even in the shower, but over the sink) on my neck with this solution, I noticed in instant and huge change in the overall comfort, as well as closeness of the shave. Considering the sensitivity of my skin, I was actually shocked that in using my Panasonic EI - LA63 model actually did not require a breaking in period(where skin may be irritated, or left with visible patches of razor bumps, for the first 30 days or so), as many people stated they always needed with an electric razor. I was very happy that even in shaving dry, I was not dealing with any irritation at all in my skin....but also worried that I had just purchased a razor that did not make as close of a shave as a standard multi blade razor, where one has to keep replacing those darn expensive cartridges& using tons of gel to prevent horrible cuts&irritation. Once using this solution, not only did it make for a much, much closer shave, with no irritation at all... but it made my shave simply perfect, as I tend to not shave that often, and always have a very short, clean looking beard, as I look like a little boy when I do shave; although I am 37 years old. If I don't leave a short clean/manicured beard, or goatee...& if I actually shave all of my facial hair off, I am carded everywhere I go, and ask for ID, although I am 16 years past the legal age, plus at work, many clients ask me my age whenever they meet me in person, as I am dealing with large monetary transactions in my line of work, & I do not like looking like a little boy and having clients think I just got into the business, with no knowledge, or having the knowledge &experience in my field of work questioned. I also do not like shaving very much, as a razor always cuts my face, or leaves me very irritated, and I can never shave against the dirrction (Graim)of the facial hair growth without irritiation,&I am talking about cutting my neck all over, plus razor bumps. This product works very wel, in that it does not allow the electronic razor to create any irritation, and makes for a way smoother shave, as well as closer shave, and I can finally shave against the "grain" or growth of the facial hair on my neck. All one needs to do is apply this to their face( or whatever body region they wish to shave), wait about 15-20 seconds as it is absorbed into the skin and causes all of the hair folicles to "stand on their end" prior to using an electric razo(or standard razor which I also tried), and they will notice a huge difference in the quality of the shave vs. a standard dry shave with an electric razor (or standard razor, which it isn't even made for), and expect a wonderful&clean shave overall. For the cost of this item, the savings are huge vs. using a foam or a gel, as the gel makes "standard" shaving easier...but create a huge build creates a huge build up on electric razor (and a standard razor, causing one to constantly gave to run it under water and bang the razor on the sink, which can cause bacteria &worse in the process to build up on either a stanrard or electric device). Plus, I no longer have to worry about the bottom of the shaving gel can leaving a corrosive mark on the counter, as any water that ever touches that can, or gets near it will always leave that circular rust stain, that needs to be scrubbed away. This solution is very good for how close it allows the electric razor(or even standard razor, which its not even made for),to actually make a super clean shave. Just this 7, or 7.5 ounce amount of solution, I figure will allow me to use my electric razor for at least 6 to 7 months without needing to purchase any more shaving gel or cream. I also like the clean smell that it has as well, and simply soothes the skin as it allows for the closest shave that I have had with my brand new electric razor, which I far favor in comparison to my standard razor (that I HAD been using for my whole life). All of the above, plus the overall "savings" category is just an added bonus factor, or incentive for one to opt for an Electric Razor, vs dosposables that just add to the amount of garbage that we, as humans are leaving all over the planet. I love that an electric razor does not cost you $5 to $7 per cartridge, and those cartridges can last(me) only about seven shaves in total, and they will then tend to drag, and cut my face&then end up in a landfull somewhere. I have used this product for about 3 weeks, and could not be happier. The amount of money you save, plus the added savings and owning a great electric razor; which I purchased here on Amazon for under $100, means that I will actually save a lot of money this year, & in the years to come, as opposed to having to go out and buy those silly 5 bladed disposable cartridges &that rediculous foam all the time...which is just a pain in the butt, as well as the wallet.

Is ok

SO have tried various electric pre-shave options and here is my list form best to worst. You might have different results as it kind of depends on your skin type, which other online reviews don't take into account. Shaving was performed with a Braun Series 9 shaver, then a few months later with a Panasonic Arc 5 (ES-LV9Q). Shaves were performed either daily, or at 3-4 days growth. The Panasonic shaves closer with less irritation and heat build up in my experience. The pre-shaves I have tried out are as follows; Williams Lectric Shave, Aramis Lab Series, Mennen Afta, Freelette Pre/After Shave, Spieck, Remington Facesaver stick, and SuperShave ElectraSmooth oil. 1. Williams Lectric shave: Liquid is pretty thin and drips all over the place, mainly on the container, need to wipe it off before putting it back. Smell is pleasant, not overpowering. It does a decent job of lubricating and preventing the foils form heating up. Can still feel some stubble along the back of jaw near ears afterwards. Would rate about a 3.5 out of 5. 2. Aramis Lab Series; Liquid is thin, spreads easily, little to no scent. Lubrication is best of all the ones I have tried. Razor foils never heat up and allows the razor to shave really close. No stubble felt in the jaw/ear area. Would rate this about 4.5 out of 5 stars due to it being the most expensive, but bottle lasts long time anyway. 3. Mennen Afta per shave; More of a lotion based compared to liquid like the previous two. Spreads easily, has a pleasant strong smell. I would say it is not as close as the Williams. Also, while shaving it gets thicker and causes razor to drag, heating up foils. Would give it about 2.5-3 stars. 4. Freelette pre/after shave; This is a lotion based product. Has a very strong smell like soap. Only tried it once as the smell was way too strong. 2 Stars 5. Spieck Pre-electric Shave; Clear liquid. Cap seals securely and doesn't drip/leak when pouring out. Has a pleasant scent (reminds me of Brut). Lubrication was about on par with the William Lectric shave. Foils got warm, and was a pretty close shave. 3.5 Stars 6. Remington Facesaver stick; Talc powder based stick. It is messy, when you apply it goes on pretty thick and has a perfumey smell to it. When you start shaving talc fall everywhere. Foils heated up and got HOT using this product rather quickly. Closeness was about on par with the Williams and Spieck. Made a mess of the razor and cleaning station. Would rate a 1 of 5 stars. 7. ElectraSmooth for Men; Oil based pre-shave. This was a pre-shave oil. Was about as thick as vegetable oil. Had a pleasant scent. Lubrication was pretty good, although the razor didn't move about as freely as with the Lab Series, and the foils got warm. Definitely have to take a shower afterwards with this one. Was a decent shave, but can see where it and the whiskers would accumulate in the cleaning station/razor since it is a thick oil. Rate it about 3 of 5 stars. There you go. I found the Lab Series to work the best for my skin/beard type (normal type for both). The Lab series is the highest price on the list, however provided the closest shave with least irritation. Also, a bottle lasts many months, so saving $5-10 over say 6-8 months and not dealing with razor burn is worth it to me.
