PYLE PLCM7300BT 7-Inch TFT Mirror Monitor with Rear-View Night Vision.
By Rolatio2 on Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2013
Rearview camera connected to a new rear view mirror that fits over the factory mirror. The Glare kind of obstructs vision in bright sunny weather but it's good enough to see what is behind you when backing up. No problems with a professional installer who was very familiar with connections for the local Sheriff's Office. The setup works great and it was delivered on time as agreed.

Not Your Typical DIY Project

People that purchase this backup camera should know that there are no instructions for installation, other than a simple wire list. If you are comfortable installing car audio/video equipment, you will be ok. Because the camera is hard wired to the mirror/monitor, you will need to run wires from the license plate the entire length of the car. This takes time and skill, given you must be able to remove and run wire behind trim, headliner, and carpet. In addition, you need to be able to tap power, 12 volts positive and negative, at the camera and mirror. I installed this system on a Toyota Sequia SUV and here is what I did: Products I used. Tools including; screw drivers, wire cutters, nut drivers, plyers, zip ties, electrical tape, cordless drill, electrical multimeter and flash light or head lamp. Purchased from R-shack; 2 conductor wire 20 gauge, wire taps, butt splices, and a RCA type video cable extension with a female to female connector (the supplied cable was not long enough for my SUV) 1. The camera needs 12 volt power, I tapped this from a rear by power port. You may have to bring it from the fuse box up front. Because the license plate is on a lift gate, I had to remove the inside panel and trim pieces of the lift gate to get wire to the mounted camera. I also drilled a hole behind the plate to get the wire into the interior. 2. The mirror/monitor needs 12 volt power, a video feed from the camera and the positive leg of the your back up light. The green wire from the monitor senses the 12 volts from the backup lamp and switches the monitor to video 2 where your camera should be plugged in. This way, when you put the car in reverse, the camera displays on the monitor and returns to off when driving forward. I used a multimeter to ID the wire that feeds the backup light and tapped into it. This wire, along with the video cable was ran to the front fuse box. 3. The mirror/monitor has a supplied harness that I ran to the fuse box. I tapped power there and hooked up the video cable and green wire to the wire I brought from the backup light. I used zip ties to get the wires up out of the way so I don't catch my feet on them getting in and out of the car. A few things to be aware of: When running wires, be careful not to get them in the way of side or curtain airbags. Don't put all the trim pieces back on or hide wires until you test the system. Tape over all plug in type connections so they don't rattle loose over time. Plan on hours not minutes to install this thing. My son and i did it in three hours, getting through the lift gate was pain. The easiest part was mounting the camera on the plate and the hardest part was running wire through the interior so they are hidden, not a trip hazard, not pinched and look professional. Identifying and tapping power was also a little tricky. Like I said at the start, it's not a easy do it your self project, but if you are mechanically inclined, give it a try. However, be prepared to take it to a car stereo shop if you get in over your head. Others have talked about the performance of the unit and blue tooth pairing, so I won't get into that, but install instructions are lacking so I thought I would try to help.
