Amazing if you stick with it!

These headphones are amazing!! I love them so much!!! So here is my process that I went through with these... So, I started looking around for a really nice pair of noise isolating earbuds because I am in college and I was getting annoyed that when I was doing my homework with my old headphones I could still hear people talking and listening to their own music and just making general noise. Also, my old headphones were really uncomfortable for me (I have small ears and the earbud were far too large. I used to use the old apple headphones when I first got my ipod, but those killed my ears after like 10 minutes). So through my search I did a lot of research on many pairs of headphones. these seemed to be very popular and were widely reviewed as where others, although having very high ratings, did not have the number of ratings these had. Also other pairs were a bit more money. I decided to go with these also because I liked the look of them (they are very sleek and small). I originally looking at the plain S4s and not the S4i's, but I watched the price for a few days and one day, the price on these dipped and was actually lower than the S4s, so I decided to get these. I ordered my set and got it 3 days later or so (I have student prime, which is amazing by the way cause as long as amazon sells it, it is free 2 day shipping on anything, and no minimum amount is needed). I immediately opened the package up and examined its contents. It comes with the headphones (obviously), 4 different sets of ear inserts (small, small double flanged, medium, and large), a clip to clip them to your shirt or something, a metal carrying case with foam insert to keep them safe, and it was supposed to come with a cleaning brush, but mine didn't (talk more about that later on). I popped them in and they sounded ok (I was using the medium tips that came on them). Maybe a small amount better than my cheap-o pair. I did not freak quite yet though because I have heard many reviews saying that they need to be "burned in", or a process where you play varying genres and different sounding music louder than you normally would for MANY hours (like a few days). I tried this and composed a playlist of many different types of music and set it on a loop. I put the headphones on my ipod, turned the volume up and threw it in my drawer for 2 days (I turned it off at night so it did not annoy my roommate). After the 2 days, I listened to them again, but they were not much better. This is when I started to get scared. I thought that I just payed a lot of money (again I am a college student and these were very expensive for me) for a cruddy pair of headphones. I thought maybe they were like a fine wine and I just did not know how to appreciate them or something. Though because I was scared to admit it to myself, I just kept using them. I mean they were not bad, they just were not impressive. Fast forward a few weeks, I start to notice a difference in them. I am starting to hear things in my music that I have not heard before. I am starting to hear more bass (at first there was nearly none at all) and fine delicate notes and instrument layers I have not heard before. I am now have owned these headphones for around 2 and a half months and they are AMAZING!!! It actually makes me sad when I have to listen to music with out them! I will be walking in a store and hear a song and think, "How amazing would this sound on my headphones!". I absolutely recommend these headphones at anyone! Also, the sound isolation is great! Sometimes I can hear a little, but mot times, I have to instruct my roommates or those around me that if they need to get my attention, that they will have to throw something at me cause even if they yell I can not hear them! lol! Now back to the missing cleaning brush. So like a week ago I noticed that the ear tips that I had on them (I now use the small double flanged) were getting kinda gross (I mean they go inside your ears and it is natural and is expected), so I tried to clean them and I could not get some of the gunk out. I was thinking that the cleaning brush really would be perfect, so I sent Klipsch an email and they sent me one in the mail. I am still waiting for it (which is to be expected. I mean, they only sent it 2 days ago, I am not expecting them to over night me a cleaning brush, lol!). But anyways, I was very impressed with their customer service. They worked very fast (though it could have been faster if I were to check my email more often!) and were glad to help! I really recommend these headphones and think everyone should own a pair so they know what their music is supposed to sound like!

Disappointed.

I bought these earphones on Wednesday, April 18th and they arrived April 20 as expected. They came in the Klipsch box, again, as expected. I took them out of the packaging (standard packaging, in a box with bubble wrap) and was surprised by the design of the box. I opened the box and took out the earbuds, earbuds box it came in, all the papers, extra rubber ear cones for different sized ears, etc. I flipped through the little instruction guide and saw nothing about a warranty. The carrying case was impressive at first glance, a thin aluminum case with Klipsch logo on the front. Then I took a look at the earbuds themselves. The first thing I noticed was how flimsy the cable it. You go the typical, easily tangled cable. Nothing out of the ordinary for headphones in this price range. The second thing I noticed was the design of the earbuds. They curve out so they fit very comfortably in the ear, and possibly giving it a specific angle in which the sound flows. I noticed that that, whictout the cones, the tube part which connects to the cones is very ling and skinny. In most earbuds, the speakers are on the very front of the buds. With this pair, they are actually inside the earbuds and the tube is hollow. The tube isnt any thicker than a .7 mm lead of a mechanical pencil. I found that interesting. When I first plugged the headphones into my ipod and turned it about half way, I was surprised by the bass response, highs, mids, and lows. Everything was crisp and clear. Along with that, I couldn't hear a thing outside of the headphones when I had them playing. This was a plus because I travel alot and the sound of the airplanes are annoying. But with these earbuds, I could sink into my music on the flight and not have to be bothered by the engine. The bass is very, very nice. Not only was it crisp and not at all muddy, but I could actually hear the transition of mid to high to low bass frequency. The cheapest headphones I could hear that on, so far, were my Sennheiser HD 280 pro's. I was very impressed with the sound quality of these headphone. It seemed almost too good to be true. Up until yesterday, these headphones were going strong. I was in class listening to lecture with the headphones and the left ear started acting skittish. I changed the volume and muted the sound but it sounded like the driver inside was crackling. I put them away up until last night when I decided to check them out again. The left ear was going out, and the bass on the right ear was WAY TOO HIGH. I like bass in my music, but not too a point where it disrupts all other sounds in the song. I used a well know trick which is to let them play over night on loud and check them in the morning. Well, I did that and the sound was only worse. The bass was as muddy as it gets, the left ear was only bass, no treble whatsoever, they just sounded horrible. Like a pair of $10 Skullcandy's. I am very disappointed. Not only because I've had these for a mere two almost three weeks, but because I took very good care of them and they were very good headphones, for the time being. I am going to contact Klipsch and see about a refund or a new pair of the headphone.
