Solid scope mounting system
By morgan p on Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2011
I purchased two UTG high profile scope mounts for my spring airguns. The nature of the spring-piston airgun is unique in the fact that they give a double recoil. A rearward recoil when the piston is released and a forward recoil when the piston slams into the breech. This double recoil is very hard on scopes and mounts. The UTG one piece mount is far superior to a two piece mounting system because it holds tighter to the dovetail on the rifle and the problem of lining up the two scope rings are nonexistent due to the nature of the design. Misaligned scope rings can be problematic and difficult to correct. Another manufacturer makes a similar mount to the UTG but they use 5 screws to clamp to the dovetail rather than 3 and I would think that would even be better but it costs considerably more than the UTG mount. I have not had a bit of trouble with the UTG mount moving and it has a stop pin that helps too. For rimfire rifles without a hole in the receiver for a stop pin, the pin is easily removed from the UTG mount. The UTG mount is packaged with an extra mounting screw and stop pin so in case you lose one, there is another on hand. I would recommend this mount to those who plan on installing a scope on a spring-piston, or gas-piston, airgun. I think this mount would be an excellent choice for rimfire rifles too. After seeing how well this mounts works, I plan on installing a UTG single piece mount for use on Weaver bases on my 500 S&W single shot rifle that has a tremendous recoil and I have had problems with the scope slipping in the two piece rings I use now. And you can't beat the price here on Amazon, at least I haven't found it yet.

Stop pin did not hold up too the swarm magnum ..... so use only on a rifle with roughly 12fpe mines pushing 24fpe. And it broke
