Undisclosed ingredients (unsafe health profile) (and way overrated)
By Viacheslav Kim on Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2025
TL;DR DO NOT BUY NICE FLAVOR FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH Pros - Contains psyllium husk (I hope it does) Cons – Product listing failed to flag several synthetic additives (maltodextrin, aspartame, Yellow 6, artificial flavor, citric acid) – Unnecessary high‑glycaemic filler (maltodextrin) cancels some metabolic upside (Glycemic index is higher than a normal sugar..) – Contains Yellow 6, which some parents and IBD patients try to avoid – Uses aspartame (phenylalanine source) without clear front‑of‑pack warning – “Natural orange flavor” would achieve the same taste with fewer chemicals --- Maltodextrin Very fast‑digesting starch (glycaemic index ≈ 110). Large single doses spike blood glucose and insulin—counter‑productive if you’re taking psyllium to tame carbs. Aspartame Acceptable daily intake (ADI) is 40–50 mg kg‑ day‑ for most people, but phenylketonuria (PKU) patients must avoid it, and a small subset report headaches or GI upset. Classified “possibly carcinogenic” (IARC 2B) on limited evidence; meta-analysis reveals harmful impact on nervous system and memory. FD&C Yellow 6 (Sunset Yellow FCF) Artificial azo dye linked to mild hyperactivity in dye‑sensitive children and flagged by mouse colitis models. Well below regulatory limits, but California and FDA are beginning to phase out synthetic food dyes for children’s products. Artificial orange flavor Petroleum‑derived flavor chemicals; not inherently toxic but unnecessary when natural citrus oils exist. Citric acid (anhydrous) Generally safe, but the combination of fiber + acid + sweeteners can cause heartburn in sensitive users and may erode enamel if you sip it slowly. --- This version trades cleaner labeling for a bright orange color and soda‑like taste. If you’re watching blood sugar, have a child with behavioral sensitivities, or simply prefer fewer synthetic ingredients, you might want to choose the unflavored or capsule form instead. Two stars for effective fiber, minus three for stealth additives and inadequate product disclosure. I can't even return this one, neither though I want to take it. I will give it to someone who is fine with those risks, I just don't want to throw 30 USD into the trash bin (I would though, my wife thinks maybe someone still can benefit from it (definitely, if there is someone loving soda; this one will be better than just a sweet soda)). This is not a safe product in my opinion, and doesn't cause good to your health.
