Interesting Findings
By Joe Scaricaciottoli on Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2013
I bought this device because I installed a new continuous pressure well pump. This pump is controlled by a transducer and an expansion tank. These components are before my existing water softener and exposed to the hard water. I have been noticing a fluctuation in the pressure so I can only guess it is being affected by the scale buildup in the transducer. This is the main reason I bought this device. It has been a little over 2 weeks since I installed the Eddy Descaler. Let's get one thing straight from the beginning for all you skeptics; it is a descaler not a water softener. I have an existing water softener that came with the house and I hate the slick feeling you get when you take a shower. My well water is extremely hard at 20 grains. The existing softener adds sodium to the drinking water and that has been proven to be harmful to people. The Eddy device treats the calcium and magnesium minerals and lets them pass through your pipes, shower heads and faucets without sticking to them. We take calcium and magnesium in vitamins so getting more is a plus. To give this test a real workout I shut the existing water softener off. I inspected all the shower heads and faucets and if necessary cleaned them if I saw any scale buildup. As I said it has been over 2 weeks and I have absolutely no build up. I use a coffee maker with a clear plastic side reservoir. One time I ran out of salt for the water softener and it ran 2 weeks without treating the water. At that time I saw lime scale build up on the reservoir. With the Eddy Device on I just notice today there was absolutely no scale build up anywhere on the coffee reservoir. I was quite pleased. My wife complained that some of the glass in the dishwasher were coated but I told her that was done a months before I placed the Eddy Descaler on. To prove her wrong I placed a glass bowl in the dishwasher and after it was cleaned and sitting in the washer for a period of time we saw nothing. I am sure some of you will comment that I did not give it very long so I will come back in a few weeks and update my findings. Just keep in mind that my water's hardness is 20 grains which is at the high end of the Eddy Device's capability so not seeing anything at this point is very promising. PS: I am a mechanical engineer so I am very methodical when it comes to testing a product.

This is a 5 star product, but nobody reads the 5 star reviews. Really - 5 STARS

This descaler is a 5 star product but nobody reads the 5 star reviews. I wanted to get this review read. I live in an area with very hard water, 15 gag. I have a coffee shop with 2 espresso machines. I have a sophisticated water treatment and softening system but the steam boilers stil get scale build up in the boiler and on the element (stainless steel). Every 2 years the boilers need to be de-scaled. This is a time consuming and messy process. The descaling of the boiler takes about a day. Once it is removed from the espresso machine I have to set it up to pump descaling chemical through it for 24 hours to get it clean. I have read about electronic descslers and admit I was sceptical. It has been 2 years since I installed the Eddy. I you read the product description it says that it prevents the minerals from bonding and building up. The Eddy did not eliminate the scale. I had to service the espressso machines including the boiler. When the boiler was removed and emptied there was calcium in the boiler but like small grains of sand. I rinsed the boiler of the sand and upon inspection was surprised. The interior of the boiler was spotless, cleaner then when it was descaled last time. No scale at all. So rather than being a 24 hour ordeal with 2 service trips I was able to reinstall the boiler and get the machine back in service right away. I would recommend this descaler as doing exactly what it promises. Excellent product for the price, easy installation. 5 Stars
