Running Free and Limp Free
By naz on Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2016
Our dog has been on Glycanaid-HA since September 2015 after having TPLO knee surgery on his right hind leg (9 months thus far). With careful restrictions on his physical activity and very gradually working him up to more rigorous activities, we are so grateful and happy to report that he has been able to run and enjoy the dog park and go on short hikes out with us (no more than 1 hour so far with low/ mild elevation changes). He zooms around the park at top speed like a maniac for short bursts and no limp afterwards. We still watch and never let him over exert himself. He's even got to try his hand at sheep herding! He spent about 20 minutes in the round pen with the trainer and got to chase a few sheep around. Still no limp afterwards. We do believe that consistent use of the joint supplement along with a thoughtful physical rehabilitation program that included various mobility exercises to teach him to reuse the "bionic leg" was an integral part of his full recovery. He went once a week starting 1 month after surgery and did about 10 sessions. We got him as a 4-5 yo rescue at our local city shelter in poor condition and no history as he was a stray. He's about 8-9 yo this year (we think). He's also maintaining a lean muscular weight of 41 lbs as compared to his muscular, bulkier 46-47 lbs pre-injury though he eats the same amount of food. He didn't gain quite all the muscle back but he's healthy and strong and the few pounds he lost also helps with relieving excess pressure from his joints. We've considered switching to Phycox or something a bit less expensive, but with his many allergies (including fish and marine ingredients) we are cautious to introduce any new products to his diet and this still works very well for him.

Pups love them-Hold your nose!
By Megan on Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2024
My doggies were confused at first because they’re hard and need to be chewed well, but now they eat them easily. Personally, my boyfriend and I argue between who feeds them to the dogs, because they smell like straight vomit. You MUST wash your hands after you give them or your hands will smell like vomit all day. Outside of that-the pups seem to like them!
