got it for blogging

I am an avid blogger and I got this for directmode to post from my android phone. The software is a little stupid and takes a while to get, and you have to make some choices. For instance do you want to be able to connect to your eyefi from home. At first you might ask why...can't you just have it auto upload to a picture website of your choice (picasa for me). Yes you can, but then I cannot figure out a way to include that picture in a post (blogger for me), except from a computer. Another tip...you have to have wifi turned on for the phone to connect...duh. Another tip is to enable selective upload (only pictures you mark protected are transmitted), to avoid uploading the entire card to your phone. Software on the phone isn't that great, and loads on boot for android. I just leave it running and after I receive a pic, I go into the gallery and the pic is there in the eyefi folder. Creating an account is weird as you have to connect a card to your computer, to create a new account...strange. Anyways, followers have noticed the switch from the cell phone camera (8mp) to a point and shoot.

the realities of this card

I purchased this to put in my gopro hd hero 2 camera. I was using it to pair to my Iphone as an LCD screen. On the wifi connection at my house, sending pictures to my computer was nowhere near as fast as I saw advertised. It would take maybe 30 seconds to upload 1 picture. If you have time lapse on the gopro you can be getting up to 30 pictures a minute. Sending the pictures on the wifi at my house to my iphone was also pretty bad. It would send about 6-10 pictures, then stop working. I am unsure if this is the apps fault, or the actual cards fault. but it still does not work as I expected it to. So I lost my gopro in a sailing accident. The eye fi card was in the camera. After I lost the camera at the bottom of the beach, I was hoping that it would pair up to my iphone and send me some pictures to maybe get the whereabouts of its location. I was wrong. I spent an hour kayaking around the area I lost my camera and it would not connect to phone. By the way, I spent an hour sailing with the gopro snapping pics every 10 seconds. The phone was within 10 feet of the camera the whole time, and I got about 15 pictures (all from shore). So basically there was an hour where the camera shouldve been sending pictures to my phone and it sure didnt. So all in all, a review of my experience for each of their selling points. Direct Mode: Instant Uploads Anywhere- Yes it does this when it wants to, it cuts out often and stops sending pictures when it feels like it. Dont expect any quick upload times. Automatically Backup and Organize over Wi-Fi--No Cables, No Hassles- True, no cables. It did take a little bit to get set up. And you only get the automatic back up for a month or so before they charge you to use their service. Endless Memory: Never Miss a Shot Again- This was actually pretty cool. I dont think I used enough memory to actually use it before I lost it, Though I do like the idea of it. Eye-Fi View: View Photos Wherever, Whenever- Again this is for their service which is 49.99 a year or something ridiculous. Simple Set-up- I would say its a little above average in difficulty setting up. Its tough to know its working correctly, as I felt like it shouldve uploaded within 3-5 seconds and didnt upload for about 25-30. It may have been my preconceived notions about what I shouldve got out of this card for the price I paid, But I do not feel it was worth the $70 paid. I expected better results.
