Energy RC-10 Black Ash Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)

I bought these along with a Sherwood RX-4109 105 Watt Stereo Receiver (Black) to use with my iMac instead of computer speakers. I absolutely love them. The sounds produced by these speakers are clear, crisp and not bothered with harmonics. An amplifier with about 100w RMS per channel into 8 ohms is about right for these. They create a much larger aural presence than I expected, the low bass frequencies extend much lower than I thought they would too. Most importantly it is not a booming low end, with no noticeable peaks around one note. Percussion sounds like high hats, snare drums, and rim shots are brilliant and seem just like live music. Bass solos that range up and down the scale are not affected by a resonance or buzz. Lyrics are crystal clear and easy to follow. I would compare these favorably to the Acoustic Research AR-4x speakers I bought in 1966. I simply connected the Line Out from my iMac to the CD input. With the volume control on the receiver set at halfway I can control the volume from my iMac and quickly crank it up at will. doubleplusgood Now I'm wondering why I tolerated using computer speakers for so many years.
