good for beginners

good deal, only costs a little more than what the hohner old standby harmonica costs anyway, but this has a book and cd to help you learn. I know its made for beginners, that's why its called basics, but it really is basic. there is more history and theory of harmonica than learning to play. but overall a good choice, just wish there was more room to grow with the book, that's the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

Keep the book and give the Harmonica that came with the book to your kid

Keep the book if you are a real total beginner who knows nothing about the harmonica. It's well written and good choice of songs. Get a Hohner Marine Band - Key of C for about $32 - $34 and give the one that came with the book to your kid to mess around with. Believe me if you use the harmonica that comes with the book you will just think you can't play when it's the harmonic that can't. A good harmonica sounds good even when you just blow into it.
