Sleek Looking Sensational Sound and Priced Right Make This System a Winner!

'll Caveat this review with the following: Long before there was an Internet, Flat screen televisions or something called "The Cloud" there was superb audio and the heart of any "Home Theater" was your stereo system. Back then Stereo Review and Audiophile were bibles and More often than not good quality audio equipment came in the sizes of Volkswagens and Hummers. Always a fan of Onkyo although I leaned toward Yamaha for some reason or the other. I still have those separate components stored away along with a pair of Polk RT11 speakers - unfortunately as my better half want's them kept out of sight that's where they'll have to stay or I won't be long for this earth. All this said, when I was dragged into the 21st Century a few years ago I bought my first ipod Classic and we have a number of speaker systems. None of them particularly outstanding. Although back in 2012 I had read so many glowing reviews for the Logitec S715i both on and off Amazon that I bought one. We really liked it, I wouldn't say that any of these systems have roof raising sound but the Logitec was terrific and lasted up until recently when it was clearly starting to lose volume. And so the search began but to he frank it wasn't a long one. I simply had decided to buy the Logitec again. After breezing through a few other makes and models I came across the Onkyo and decided to give it a shot - it's simply outstanding. First impression out of the box is the sheer weight it's hefty and substantial. The aesthetic is nice as well, slim and well defined it's upscale and transitional so it's not going to work virtually anyplace however what really stands out is the sound. Clear Highs that aren't tinny, Mid Range is Bright and the Bass is deep enough to add a warm dimension top your music without that awful, artificial sounding thump. Some Nice Touches Are: * Superb build quality and equally well finished * Terrific Sound! In our 30 X 40 or so Sun Room it's more than adequate at low to mid level volume * Back Firing Bass * Easy to see LED Volume Levels * No Pin Plates needed - just pop your 30 pin ipod or any MP3 player on the dock * Sleek design * Remote * Charges your ipod The remote is tiny as in you'll need the Hubble to see it but it does control everything. The bottom line is this system works, sounds and looks terrific. It'll be more than you expect especially at this price. Highest Recommendation

great sound; lasted almost exactly 1 year
By JohnPaul Hosom on Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2014
The speakers sound great. It's relatively large, but since it sat in our kitchen on top of the fridge, that was fine. A few months ago, it stopped working through the iPod dock, so we switched to the line input and charged the iPod separately. A few days ago it stopped working altogether. I wouldn't mind spending money on good speakers if I could find a set that lasts more than a year. As it is, this one goes in the trash.
