MAGIC ERASERS ARE TRULY "MAGIC"!
By Lil Bit on Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2016
WELL… I’m trying something new.I’ve never included a photo with any of my reviews but am attempting to do so with this one. I know Amazon likes us to write reviews right away when we buy something, but I often don’t use it for a while. Like these Mr Clean Magic Sponges I purchased a month ago tomorrow. I remembered using one about 15-20 yrs. ago on the woven wood that I still have hanging in my kitchen window. As I recalled, my shade looked like new when I was done, even though it had been in that window probably almost 20 yrs at that point. Now, they might not be the most “up-to-date” window treatment—in fact, probably the most out of date!- but there are few window coverings that provide the insulation an old fashioned fully-woven woven wood shade provides. I’ve even thought about replacing this one with new, in different colors, but the new ones aren’t fully woven like this one is. During the winter, drop this down and it’s an immediate 30 degree +/- difference in the cold air coming off that insulated window! During the summer, it’s probably almost that with the sun shining from the west when it’s 85 degrees in the Pacific NW— even with the mylar solar reflective/insulating shade covering the window. The difference is amazing. Anyway, since I can’t replace it with something comparable, I decided to try cleaning my woven wood shade once again. I’ve only just begun and this probably isn’t the best picture. I carried my laptop into the kitchen and had to try to hold it up for the isight camera to get the shot while clicking from behind the laptop. I don’t have a smart phone which would have been easier but I think this worked to show you what my results so far are. If you look at the left side and compare that to right side of the valance you can see the amazing difference just a few minutes with the Mr Clean Magic Sponge has made. I didn’t exert any pressure, or spend a lot of time. I primarily brushed the outside section of the valance and trim. I did just a little on the next section of the valance. If you look at the body of the valance and compare it to the body of the shade below, you can see how much cleaner it is with minimum effort and time - maybe about 5-8 minutes. The trim speaks for itself. The difference is night and day! I still have almost the entire sponge left. Only about a 1” piece has broken off one corner. I think the people who are breaking them apart so quickly and easily are exerting too much pressure. Soooo ….I ask you, do I recommend these sponges? YOU BET I DO!!

Good for tough jobs, but has some drawbacks
By K on Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2013
I've been using magic eraser for a few years now, and no doubt, it is indeed good for what it is and does. If you have some wicked awful mark on a cabinet or a wall, this will get it off! It's removed pen and crayon from cabinets and doors and walls and even laminate flooring (thanks kids!!), and even removed hair dye that had sunk into a painted cabinet surface as well as a bathroom wall - which is really pretty impressive since that stuff fiercely permeates every surface it comes into contact with! - but it has some drawbacks. My first issue with this product is that it leaves a white, chalky film behind where you clean, which is horribly awful to the touch and is a real pain to clean up. You can't just whip out your magic eraser, clean up that spot on the wall and go, you need to follow up with a soapy water or surface cleaner and really get it thoroughly cleaned up or else it is noticeable upon drying. The other issue i have with this product is that it easily crumbles with use. The actual eraser pad tends to completely fall apart into pieces while in use. Granted, this is not a huge issue, but it gets annoying especially when tackling more difficult jobs that require extra elbow grease. Lastly, it does have a tendency to remove actual paint from the surfaces you are cleaning. If you are again, cleaning a difficult job, be careful as you might remove some small amounts of paint. Not large swatches of paint, but you will notice a loss of paint in a type of stippling effect, so to speak. It is probably not noticeable on a large scale but I felt it was worth noting. Overall, I would recommend cleaning and just repainting any areas you really have issues with, assuming you have leftover paint for touch ups, but if not this is the next best thing. I still buy these for small jobs even though I've made it a habit of keeping small jars of touchup paint in my house, but from experience will not use these for more than the occasional pen mark or such. Good to have on hand, but it's definitely a bit more than it would seem to get the most out of this product!
