Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

I have been struggling with what I believe to be seborrheic dermatitis for months now, but have been looking to OTC products as getting a dermatologist appointment takes forever. I had seen a lot of recommendations on line for products that have Ketoconazole as the active ingredient, and decided to try this after seeing all of the rave reviews. The great news is, it works great as far as my scalp health! The previous medicated shampoo I had had Salicylic Acid as the active ingredient, and with that 24 hours later my scalp would itch as if I had not even washed my hair at all. But this leaves my scalp itch free for days. As far as my hair though — dry as a BONE! Wow! I don’t think this shampoo is made with coily or textured hair people in mind, because my hair tangled, matted, and shrunk like no one’s business as I was washing it, and practically no amount of conditioner could save it. I already have pretty low porosity hair, so it was quite frustrating having to detangle all of that. I also read that in order to achieve best results from this shampoo, you have to wash your hair multiple times a week, which neither I nor most textured hair people I believe don’t do. It would be nice if we could reap the benefits without their sacrifice. I will continue to use it, but probably won’t buy again.
