Get one while you can

I have had this lifeproof cover on my ipad air 1 since the day i bought the ipad back in 2015ish timeframe. The ipad is still in perfect condition, but as you can see in the photos, the case is not. That's the idea!! Submerged in a mexican lagoon, bath time entertainment for kids, youtube advice while working on cars, this case has allowed us to do it all. The large gash in the face was due to a fall of 4 feet off a water heater and an unlucky landing square on the sharp edge of a jack stand. Still, the screen protector (the sold separately glass one i mean) took all the damage to my surprise and the case absorbed enough to allow that to happen. (The tape in that photo covers the camera, not another cut; yes, i am paranoid; no, i dont care). My problem is the charging port opening which is a molded plastic snap, where on mine the plastic snap part broke, but that was after several years' opening and closing. My main criticism in the design is the earphone port. The cover is so thick that "L" shaped plugs do not fit in very well, to the point i have bought an extension cord simply so i can plug in sets of wired headphones (i have expensive, nice, and servicable wired headsets from pre-bluetooth eras i am unwilling to replace). I am at this point buying a new one as replacement and imagine it will last as long as the ipad is still supported by apple, which historically for apple products will be fairly soon but the cost is worth it. I looked for one a while ago but they are tough to find since apple releases product so fast that companies making product specific cases and covers move on and stop making stuff for the older ones. Im glad i found another one.

Embarrassingly Bad Product
By Pete on Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2019
I have been buying lifeproof cases for my phones for years, so I thought I’d try one for my iPad. The bad started from the minute I opened the box. The screen protector is crooked or thicker in some locations than others so it doesn’t cover the screen properly and adds to much pressure in certain places. The seal of the case was full of dirt, dust, and crumbs of some sort when I got it and it doesn’t matter how I clean it or soak it I can’t get all of it. Thought I’d try it anyway. I cleaned both the case internal screen and the iPad screen to be immaculate, however because of the grime in the seal every time I close the case debris covers the screen and because of this it was putting a lot of unhealthy pressure on the iPad screen. Even if you somehow get the case on without debris coming from the seals opening and closing the hatch for the USB always shakes some loose. I then noticed that one of the pieces of debris had lodged itself into my screen and damaged the glass screen of the iPad. The buttons are impossible to use as they take a lot of pressure to activate the buttons. Also upon just one removal of the case the seal was damaged and will not close completely all the way around. The removable piece of the back of the case that is supposed to be used with the strap never fits back in properly do it’s always falling out. Ive never had this issue with these cases.
