Great Drive, Great Brand, Great Price

I purchased this 3T Passport Ultra Metal Edition to hold my Music. I love it! Of course, I'm kind of a Passport Girl. PROS 1) It's small and won't clutter your desk top. 2) It works with Mac O/S El Capitain!!! Just follow the simple instructions available on the WD website. 3) Passport Ultra HDs are work-horses. (I chose to purchase this one, because my 2T Passport Ultra is chugging along beautifully.) 4) The Metal Edition matches my MacBook Pro. It's a cool-looking peripheral and fashion accessory all in one. Sort of a Con 1) The Passport Ultra Metal Edition is the same plastic as all Passport Drives on the bottom. This is not a detriment. These drives are designed and built to last. However, if you are concerned about transporting your Passport Ultra, amazon.com sells cases.

Just ask for Level 2 Technical Assistance.

Had to revise my review on the HD. I bought to replace an older WD HD. The data was recovered from that HD after it died as well as laptop that developed problems. This HD comes with self installed locking software. It works great. But when a 2nd laptop had to go in for warranty work. I took this HD and the laptop to the Retailer where I had purchased the laptop, Well the unlocking software wasn't working on the laptop that stopped booting up. There is a way to enter the passcode manually, The unlocking software remembers the passcode, I couldn't remember it. While at the retailer I called WD Tech support. Jobs they have placed off shore. The first tech told me my only choice was to wipe the drive. Noooo. The unlocking software works on the laptop at home. Texas and Indian accents don't work well together. I though I'll call back and get another Tech and a different answer, India is a fascinating county, but people were standing in line. So I went to the External HD section of that retailer and bought a new Seagate and had the retailer just back up to it. Then when I returned home and hooked the WD HD up to the working laptop the unlocking software opened up just perfect. I got to picking around in the security and you know what I found? I found a hint I left to my absent minded self to help me remember thee passcode. I was a little miffed because two Techs told me I would just have to erase the drive. So I called WD again and spoke to another nice man named Kevin with a strong accent. He said "Oh you should have ask for Level 2 technical assistance. I guess the fact there was a level 2 tech assistance that had read the user manual was kept secret from all but a few of the level 1 techno whizzes.
