Step up in LG Tone Class with Retracting Cables & Overall Build Quality
By Ben B. on Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2016
This is my 3rd LG Tone, and I'm very happy with it, within the parameters of my purchase and understanding of the Tones. First I'll start with the bad from historical experience. Both of my last 2 have been used daily heavily for approx 12-18 months then had 1 or 2 of the sound go in the ears from what i think is faulty thin cable. But other than that they have long long battery life, are best i've found for phone calls and sound is very good. Especially when u get the model appropriate Comply foam buds (ive found medium isolation size/model is best) So onto the 900: I picked this up as a Amazon best buy return used in good condition and was around $33USD. It arrived with the odd mark on it but basically it was charged and paired quickly and was a legit/genuine item with so many fakes of this item being out. (and probably some very negative reviews reflect this as does phones with bad bluetooth and so on) These are a much better made all in one unit and as people say those thin cables are now protected and don't dangle everywhere.. U sometimes have to push very hard to have the cable retract but the feature is both fantastic and necessary given experience with last 2 x tones. But again at $33USD this is a very well made unit. The best way to describe the build quality now is it's like when a phone manufacturer goes from offering all plastic phones to all aluminium. The 900's feel as if they have a solid all in one build quality that while not aluminium is far improved on all the all plastic with dangling cables for the ear buds with a magnet that never worked. Now I only have the cable(s) drawn down if they are in use. I am hoping this means they last longer. But again bonus of buying the $33USD versions used from amazon is i'm not exposed to the full cost. I would recommend these at under $90 though as they offer a solution i haven't seen in many other alternatives in this price bracket. What I can't recommend enough, having started doing this with my first Tones is happily spending $15 on good quality earbuds to improve the sound by improving the fit and materials that go into your ear and drive the sound- I grabbed the color matching Comply foam buds which on their website u can select exact for Tone 900s (so u dont have to try to get ear buds to fit the Tones that are too small etc... which can be a real pain) So Complys are great and add reasonance to the sound and make it sound deeper and better. (i just checked my invoice from them i ordered- T-400 (Color: Platinum, Size: M, Pack: 3 Pair: SKU 17-40101-00 $14.95) You can see photos in this post. Actually seems they also sell them here at Amazon (but on website u can specifically choose the LG Tone 900 Infinims model so you are guaranteed of getting one that fits the 900s perfectly): http://www.amazon.com/Comply-T-400-Isolation-Earphone-Platinum/dp/B001DXGBII As for the experience from there- sound and volume are great (plus improved from 2 models i had think they were 730s and 750s) Again for phone calls i havent found a better experience... battery life awesome.. pair really quickly.. and the 900's discretely fit under the collar of a polo shirt or jacket.. Also they seem to have minimised the annoying feature where the light used to flash too much when using them in bed at night in a dark room. I tried to move to the over ear Jabra Moves and they are great for listening but awful in public or phone calls.. so i've got a happy medium where for under $150 i have the LG Tone 900's (used returns from bestbuy at amazon but with new Comply Foam medium size isolation buds in platinum which colour match 900s) and new Jabra Moves. Well done LG ! Just make the thin cable a bit more kevlar thick and make the retracting function a bit easier to work/push/depress/retract!

My Findings on the LG Tone Infinim 900
By Placeholder on Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2016
I have used the LG for about a week now. Its a work in progress as I've never used a headset before. I have given the LG only 3 stars for a number of reasons. Cons 1) Parts of the LG are remarkably fragile. Leading the way on this is the inner ear bud wires. LG used micro-wires instead of a thicker gauge wire. I can understand why as its A) cheaper and B) less stubborn about going where the user will want it to go. But the disadvantages weigh in on the advantages. If you pull the bud instead of the wire, I highly doubt the LG will last a year. The micro-wires are going to separate from the ear buds. Its bound to happen. When they go, the whole headset won't be of use. The buttons on the inside also seem remarkably fragile. I think LG should have gone for recessed buttons instead of sliders. This leads me to my next point. 2) Communication between the LG and your phone. You have to manually connect the LG Tone Infinim to your cell or other bluetooth device. Naturally, right? But if you accidentally walk out of range of your cell with the LG still around your neck, you lose the connection. And then you have to MANUALLY reconnect. Each and every time. That is frustrating and time-consuming, especially when you don't think about it and a call comes in you want to answer with the LG. If its not connected, you can't use it to answer your call. Now LG has offered a way to resolve this issue. You allow the LG to access your phone and 'keep it unlocked' all the time via giving it permissions to do so. That means whenever you connect your LG to your cell, your cell remains unlocked. All the time. So again, if you accidentally walk away from your cell? Remember that nice security feature called a lock screen where you unlock it with your fingerprint, pin code or image map? It doesn't work. Anyone can walk right up to your cell and open it. This also means that if you have WiFi or Bluetooth (which you naturally would since you had it connected to the LG), someone can access your cell manually and wirelessly, with your only line of defense being if you have a secondary protection method (i.e. Norton Mobile). If there is an additional way of preventing this but still retaining automatic connection via the LG, that does not involve Bluetooth or WiFi tethering, which, no, is not the same thing as allowing the LG access to your cell, causes the same security issue. Yes, you can set up a pin code for devices connecting to your system, but that won't work outside of tethering and your cell is still manually accessible. 3) The ear bud speaker quality? Okay, let's be honest here we don't expect it to have BOSE or similar quality. But the overall quality is very lackluster. Even working with the settings trying to improve it leaves you straining to hear what you know is good quality music. For the price, LG dropped the ball here. I can understand that higher ear bud speakers would raise the price, but the headset already costs over $150 in most retail locations other than Amazon. And when compared to another headset like Sol's Shadow, I'm very disappointed with LG's overall choice in ear bud speakers and quality control. 4) The LG Tone Infinim boasts multiple days of battery life, which LG says outlasts all others on the market. LG? I call your bluff. After a 30 minute phone conversation, and about 6 hours of music playing on a very low volume level, the headset was flashing red. Thinking maybe its just mine I made inquiries - nope, they are all like that. Now I can understand if I was talking for 6 hours with speaking and listening plus another six of music listening, but I wasn't. Does the Tone Infinim outlast some of it competitors in battery life? Yes, it does. But that doesn't make up for the promise of multiple days of use and nowhere near delivering what was promised. 5) Voice prompts. Aiyee. LG, I know nothing is perfect but some more work should have gone into this. First, the LG is NOT true voice prompt. You have to press buttons to get to USE the voice prompts. That means for someone like me who bought the LG for the whole purpose of not having to touch something with latex gloves to be able to answer a call, this gets a bit tricky. If your LG is not awake or if you accidentally walked out of range? No, no foolish mortal, you cannot use the power of the 'verse to answer calls magically with your voice. You still have to press a button. As I know of some voice prompt software that exists for physically disabled that works way, WAY better, I'm disappointed here. And if you want to call someone from your address book? Not only do you have to say, "Call blah blah blah", but you then have to say "Yes, call blah blah blah" to its prompting you do you REALLY want to call that person, but wait wait, most of the time - the Tone Infinim doesn't think it heard you right. And won't let you say 'yes', requiring you to still press the button. Pros 1) It connects to cells very easily. You have to manually search for it, but hey you want that otherwise as the LG Tone Infinim can connect to multiple devices at once you might accidentally connect to some poor guy's cell conversation and hear his mother-in-law telling him everything he is doing wrong in his life. Okay I'm being flip there, but let's face it, the manual connection is a good thing otherwise in the realm of possibilities that might just happen :P 2) Once you have gotten how to use the LG, its remarkably easy to use. I like how I can switch around in my music, pause with one button my music and voice prompt to an incoming call. Providing that its working right (please see Cons list). 3) Charges up fast. I'm quite happy with how quickly the LG charges up considering how much use you get out of it. I'd say it charges almost as fast if not faster than most recent cell phones. The one thing I do wish that LG had done is that for the price make a magnetic charging port rather than the usual cell phone insert cable. Because once that receptacle is worn down? Kiss your LG goodbye. Again, I give it a year at best for this and other features. Overall In my humble opinion, the LG Tone Infinim boasts a lot, and only partially delivers on its promises. There is no way I would have paid the full retail price for this headset. Amazon? I salute you. The Tone Infinim is just not where it should be for its rather large price tag. It really isn't. And from what I know of later models that did improve the music quality but dropped the ball on everything. No, as in literally dropped as apparently calls drop frequently. So basically I find the LG is great for teens of hobbyists who want their hands free. But for us grown-ups who work in the professional world, LG needs to tap their fingers on their cheeks as they read some of the many reviews of their products and see that yes, perhaps they could have put a little longer into making what is only a 3 star product into a 5 star one. They could have done it. We've seen some truly GREAT LG products. But this one was sent off the press too early.
