DJI Phantom 2 is awesome!
By JH on Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2014
The DJI Phantom 2 V2.0 is an excellent product and I'm very happy with the service provided by both CopterShop and DJI. The item shows that it is sold by TechGiant, but the Phantom 2 box lists a contact for CopterShop. I read the other two reviews. I'm not sure why the one person couldn't get his quadcopter to fly, but I've had no problems. There were issues with the gimbal, as mentioned by the other reviewer, but this is solved with a firmware update. There were a few issues that I encountered, and I'll explain them here to save you time: (1) The tiny little screws with phillips head that connect the frame on the ends of the frame near the motors ended up getting stripped when I tried to remove them. I had to drill them out. Both DJI and Coptershop told me they would ship me new screws. What is nice is that CopterShop provides you with a toll-free number with support, and the support is fairly good. (2) The gimbal doesn't work out of the box. To get the gimbal to work, load the driver from DJI (go to the website) on your computer, connect both transmitter and Phantom 2 to your computer, turn both transmitter and Phantom 2 on, and then run the application software (also on the DJI website). Make sure you run the driver, connect everything, and turn everything on BEFORE running the application software, otherwise the application software won't work and you'll see a screen that asks you to skip to the next screen. (3) The clear white locking mechanism will interfere with full range of the gimbal. This may not be an issue because you may not want your gimbal to move that far. However, what I did was use zip ties instead (don't tighten too much). Hope this helps! This is an awesome product. I bought some lower priced drones for my sons and regret it because we have lost a few of them already due to them not having GPS mode. The GPS mode is awesome, and provides you great control (don't have to worry about the wind taking the drone away).

UP UP AND AWAY!!!!!!!!
By Michelle Orozco on Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2015
Be warned!!!!! I read the reviews about this and was a little iffy on buying. I am a professional videographer and boy do I have a story to tell about this. I did all of my research, compass calibration, system updates, remote calibration, you name it. GPS wouldn't catch a signal for a week (so i didn't end up flying it... YET) I figured it was my location. I went to a wide open field, about a half mile in radius, clear if any interference (telephone wires, satellite dishes, etc) and it took about 5 minutes to blink green and then red 3 times (5 or less satellites connected) which you should always wait for a steady green (7 or more satellites connected) I re-calibrated the compass and made sure the home location was set for insurance reasons in hope of anything going wrong I can just throw it into return home mode. After all was set I lifted it about 5 feet hovering for about 30 seconds, then I decided to give it a little thrust, let go and it just kept going right into a tree about 200 feet away. Mind you that I released the throttle about a second after I pressed it. Figured it was me that did something wrong considering it was my first time flying. Tried it a second time, hovered it for about 10 seconds and UP it went (by itself). So high that I couldn't even see it, thought $1,500 just flew away with my go-pro. About the longest 30 seconds of my life went by and saw a spec free falling in the sky, landed right in the middle of a concrete driveway and broke into a few pieces. Luckily the go-pro survived. But that was it, no more drones for me (at least until they perfect them) and do some homework if your going to disregard what I am saying. Look up fly-away prevention if you are going to buy. Not recommended at all!!!! Amazon wanted to exchange it but they accepted the return after a few more phone calls, so thats what my 1 star is for. Decent customer service. Look this up, it is a common problem, I did my homework and followed everything carefully. I cant believe a company is able to sell a product so dangerous with all of these issues arising, and yes I say dangerous because it could've fallen on a car, a person or gone through someones window. I saw one video where this guy had $120,000 lawsuit and no insurance. Poor guy. BTW their customer service (at the manufacturer) is horrible.
