Can't beat what you get for the price, GREAT TV!

I have to admit, I'm kind of a TV snob. I like brand names, high end models, and lots of features. I have two very expensive Sony 4k TVs in my living room and "man cave". When it came to replace an old LCD screen for my bedroom, I didn't feel the need to spend 4,000 dollars on a TV. We just use the TV in our bedroom for a little light TV watching before bed. I didn't need anything insane. But I still believe in buying high quality products that have good reviews and seem like they will last a while. I did a lot of research and started to look into Vizio. Prior, I didn't have a good or bad preconcepreconption about Vizio. It was a name I knew of, but didn't know too much about. I just knew it was a "more affordable" TV brand. But I wasn't familiar with the quality, features, reviews, etc. So when it came to trying to spend less on a good TV, I decided to include them in my "list of brands I'd buy from". I'm incredibly glad I did. When it came to size, features, functionality, and price, Vizio seemed to fall as #1 in every part of my research. I knew I wanted a 1080p TV with AT LEAST 120hz and some smart features if possible (Netflix, Amazon, etc). So when I came across this one, saw the great reviews, and saw the price, I figured I'd give it a shot. It was a GREAT decision to do so. I've had the TV for about 2 months now and I'm quite impressed. Now let's be real...it's not competing with the performance that my Sony 4k TV provides. But for about 3000 dollars less, I wouldn't expect it to. But I have to admit, it's a pretty darn good performing TV for the price. The picture is quite good, there is zero lag when it comes to watching sports (the 120hz or as they say 240hz - which isn't true 240hz - is awesome), there are a lot of customization options, the Smart Features are good and work quickly, the remote is great, and the setup is a breeze. The manual for the TV and quick setup is all pre-loaded onto the TV itself, so you really don't need to do much on your own other than click buttons to tell it your preferences or setup the Wifi. I had this out of the box, placed securely on the bureau (had my GF help me, but it technically can be done with one person - the TV is very light), connected to my components (Cable box and Blu Ray player via HDMI), connected to Wifi and fully customized to what I wanted in less than 20 minutes. It was a breeze. I'd highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a super affordable and solid performing TV. No, it's not going to compete with TV that cost 5-10 times it's cost. But it surely is going to give you much more bang for your buck than you could imagine. *I will update this review should there be ANY issues, problems, or concerns I have going forward. If it's not updated, the TV is working perfectly and I continue to recommend it fully.

hardware ok, software not so good

This TV is ok after I got it to work; however, there are some things a buyer should know before purchasing: a) The TV is thicker than one might expect for a flat screen LCD display in 2016 b) The remote is a bit clunky and slow in responsiveness c) The Amazon button doesn't do anything d) I don't know why there is an iHeart radio button on the remote; it should be dedicated to Hulu (much more likely to be useful) e) The V button on the remote is supposed to show a full apps menu when double clicked: instead it is not possible to get the full apps menu as described in the quick guide. f) Setting up Internet seems pretty straightforward and the image quality is decent, so yay for that. g) If you, like me, don't care about setting up the TV for cable, antenna, or other and instead skip that part of the setup, beware: the TV apparently doesn't allow you to setup your apps unless you go through the TV channel guide scan first. Every time I tried to set up Netflix, it kept telling me to set up my Internet even though I had already done that, and I tried with both Ethernet cable and WiFi. Same results for Amazon and Hulu. It wasn't until I figured a moron had perhaps programmed the setup process that I decided to go through the TV antenna channel scan first, then turned off the TV (very important), then turned it back on again, and then tried to set up Netflix that it actually gave me the expected login screen for Netflix. After setting up Netflix, I tried the Amazon app, which again told me to set up my Internet. I again turned the TV off, waited a minute, turned it back on again, and voila, I was presented with the Amazon login screen. Then Hulu, and I was done. Now I am able finally to use the TV as expected, but... if you think, like me, that this should have been a much better experience, I would probably avoid this TV in favor of a Samsung or Sony or Sharp. At this point, I don't think I will return the TV since I got it working, but if I had known, I would have avoided this TV and bought something from a more reputable brand than Vizio. You will undoubtedly end up paying more, but probably getting a better product.
