This is hands down a five-star item in my books and I would recommend. Pros You can scan single or double-sided documents

This is a review of the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 Wireless All in One Photo Printer. (Measures 19.7” x 17.7: x 13.3” and average use expectation of 250 to 2000 pages a month.) Summary – I wanted a multi-function printer for my many needs and I could find no other one even remotely close to the cost and feature of this one. Here is a quick chart of the things I considered which lead me to this. It has worked flawlessly since purchase, exceeding all expectations and I will update this review should I see any issues with ongoing use. This is hands down a five-star item in my books and I would recommend. Pros You can scan single or double-sided documents. This is great as I can avoid the need to flip to get the scan of a second side. Duplex printing. Faxing. Copying. Scan to pc-email features. You can setup an email to send print jobs to. (Emails, photos, word docs, excel docs, pdf docs, etc.) It literally is simple as opening up a new email, adding attachments, add in an email address for the printer and clicking send. Printer gets email from wherever you are (providing you have it connected to internet and setup) and the printer will print the docs. Great for those who need to print something remotely or from a device-pc that the printer was not actually setup on. Large 4.3” Touchscreen interface. You can see the icons and easily know what you are doing. Photo cartridges are easy to install. Can be connected numerous ways. Wifi, USB and ethernet. Is a quick unit considering the lower price. ($172 for the 8720 white version which is what I have.) (Up to 24ppm black and 20ppm color and holds 250 pages in the tray. The output tray will hold 150 pages.) Can scan to email and desktop. I can use the touchscreen on the printer to have a document scanned and saved to the desktop of my pc. (More than one pc can be setup for a scan to pc feature.) Cons No dedicated tray for 4x6 photos. You need to empty the main paper tray and adjust the sliders for the 4x6 photo stock you put in. Little loud and action seems a little jerky vs. smooth. Ink is expensive. In short, you will spend up to $120 for FOUR XL cartridges. (Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.) Less than $100 if you are not getting xl sizes. If you get aftermarket brands, you can get 2 black and one of each color in size xl for around $60. Notes Several people have indicated the instant ink program works, however, has quirks. I do not use this feature as I would never want anything ordered automatically. Plus they indicate there are excessive pop-ups for instant ink.

The printer software is terrible, it will not allow the device to print.

You'll have to spend a few hours of your life miserably trying to connect the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 to your home wifi. You want to consult the trashy HP Smart app but everything in the help function demands you connect to the HP website and then ends up telling you to restart your wifi router so have fun with that. Eventually you’ll reach the point where it suggests removing the other devices, or load bearing walls, in your home that seem to be interfering with your printer’s good time. I couldn’t tell you what I ended up doing that allowed the printer to connect to the wifi because it kept telling me to do the same thing over and over again in a Sisyphean cycle of torture and misery, all I can tell you is that the new name of my home wifi relates to questionable parentage of the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720. (I think there might actually be a sensor in the printer that detects when it’s made a fully grown adult cry.) Whatever, you can never get that time back, but let’s move on, you go to print from Word or a website and you see the printer as finally available to print, so you send you document over. Immediately the printer will error out, that's strange because when you saw it listed, it just showed the printer as online and ready to print. What about the trashy HP Smart app again? You go to that app and again the printer is online and "ready to print"... would that it were true… Clunky as the HP Smart app is, you manage to send your document to the printer, this time instead of saying the printer is an error state the printer switches over to "offline" because you didn't fully appreciate the process for connecting it to your wifi. Now you walk over to the printer to try again, lol it was just kidding it’s still on the wifi. Maybe that was a fluke? No, you try again and find it’s only online when it doesn’t have anything to print, try and print anything at it’ll go offline until you cancel the print job. Wait! It doesn’t matter if they advertised it as connecting to wifi, forget that, that’s the past, never look back, look towards the mobile printing options. This thing also has the option to broadcast its own wifi and let your phone or tablet print stuff, what a relief! You send your file to your phone connect to the printer, send it to print, oh it kicks you off the moment you try and print something without even offering you an error message or Dear John letter, just straight up ghosting you. That frustration you feel, that anger, that’s what you get for believing it would print for you. You deserve to feel this way, and worse, you deserve to be punished. Five hours ago (or was that five years?) when you cleared off your desk because the thing is huge, it’s gigantic like a thirty pound piece of modern art that projects out at odd angles so you can’t keep anything near it, you didn’t realize this isn’t your desk this is the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720’s desk. This is the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720’s house now, you serve it, and before it will print for you it wants something more. It wants more tears.
