Perfect basic Chromebook
By Ivo on Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2016
It's fast enough for everything I use it for - multiple tab browsing, online video streaming. I got it with the lower option screen, and comparing to a premium screen, its viewing angles are bad, the colors are washed out and the brightness isn't high enough, BUT it is perfectly legible and meets all needs for home use. The speakers are at the bottom, located towards the front left and right edges where the plastic slopes so they are angled a bit out. They can be heard well enough, but are not as loud as I wish they were. No idea why Lenovo didn't point them up, if they had to be at that location, the sound would have been quite a bit better. If I hold it by the front 2 edges my hands cup the speakers and the sound is much clearer. I think that even without changing anything about the speakers, some slits in the plastic pointing up, right above the speakers would have helped. Might actually get my Dremel out and make a cut on each side. The battery live if great, but that is something to be expected from a Chromebook. I don't bother to turn it off, just close the lid and let it go to sleep. After 3 days of this sleep mode it was still around 90% battery. The longest I have used it non-stop to browse the net and watch videos has been 4 hrs and it still reported 4 hrs of expected battery life... and I didn't even start with 100% full battery. They keyboard is great, I love typing on it, the track pad is sensitive and sturdy, the hinge is just stiff enough so the screen doesn't wobble, but is not too hard to open. It has never gotten warm or hot on me. The only "trouble" I had was when I would not read a 32GB SDHC card I plugged into it. Turned out the formatting of the card used allocation size that was not compatible. After formatting the card to use default allocation size, there is no problem. Overall for the price I paid ($170), I could not have asked for anything better. It is perfectly usable chromebook for the home with an outstanding battery life.

Everything but the screen is great. This has a TN screen. TN technology is a really old and now really cheap technology. Everything I now know about the display technology I found after I returned the laptop. This screen literally caused pain to my eyes. There are models of the laptop that have a much better display using IPS 1080p display technology. I would have loved this laptop if it had a better screen as the build quality it great.
