Worth it.

Doesn't seem like a very smart little guy. Doesn't really follow any logical patterns, just goes straight until it hits something and then turns and goes another way. During the course of it's duty, it does randomly spot clean (spiral) at times. I don't know if this is just the collision sensor glitching out or if it actually chooses to spot clean, but whatever. Through the course of its random tracking, it does seem to eventually cover everything before it returns to the charging dock. It doesn't have a great deal of suction power. For example, it's winter here and there were some large salt crystals in my doorway that it couldn't pick up, even on hardwood. It even missed a few pieces of lint from my comforter, so I was a little disappointed at that, but only at first. It also doesn't make a lot of noise, so I'm guessing if it had any more suction power it would be a lot louder. So why the 5 stars then if I've got several complaints? I saw this little guy shine after I decided to run my traditional vacuum and then run the Deebot. The bot's dirt trap was completely full of cat hair and dirt, even after I just ran my upright. So, it's clearly picking up a lot of debris, just not the big stuff. I still have to run the upright, but every-other week now rather than every few days. I'd call that a win! It does great avoiding obstacles so long as you follow manufacturer's recommendations as far as cables and loose rugs go. Transitions between my hardwood and carpet floors with ease. Haven't had any problems with it not returning to the dock to charge. After running it the first few times and having to move or rearrange things on which the bot got stuck, it doesn't get stuck anymore either. I can set it up to run while I'm at work and it's there on the dock every day when I get home. Overall, not all the bells and whistles of a Roomba, but also at half the price. Spent a few months going back and forth trying to decide if I wanted to buy and spent a bit of time shopping around. Couldn't find anything in this price range that had the auto docking feature and scheduled auto clean, and this was also the best rated bot at this price at the time I bought it. Could it be better? Of course. It could also get me beer from the fridge or play with the cat when she's bored and all up in my Kool-aid. Am I happy with what it can do? Yes. I gotta admit, it is a pretty cool little gadget! I'd say it's worth the buy, but just don't expect to never have to vacuum yourself again. Don't throw away that upright just yet. Added 1/28/17 So now that I've had Deebot for a while, I just wanted to add that it actually performs better than I first expected. I've only ran my upright one time since posting the initial review, and it is totally obvious that my floor is clean every time I get home from work. It stays clean with the Deebot, so it really does take a lot of the human element out of vacuuming. I only have to empty the trap every couple of days, clean the filter once a week. You'll notice that you want to run your upright more just because those places the Deebot can't reach are looking grimy more than the it not picking up stuff. Another added bonus for one as lazy as myself is that it forces you to keep your floors tidy so the bot doesn't get stuck while you're gone. More even because you really want it to finish cleaning before you get home because it gets a little obnoxious when it tries to clean around your feet. As far as the intelligence, I've noticed that after it makes its rounds and bumps into obstacles, it will then stop just before it hits them until it returns to the base, as if it remembers there's something there. If this is actually the case, it's not saving anything because it has to bump into everything all over again the next time it runs. I absolutely love my Deebot and would highly recommend, especially if you have pets. It's an instant talking point for any guests, and they'll all want one for themselves!

Good Vac - Sketchy as a mop.
By Gary J. Kleier on Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2016
As a vac, I give it 5 stars. As a mop, it barely makes 3 stars. Guess that averages to a 4. I have 4 robot vacs from 4 different manufacturers. Two of the vacs use brushes to sweep dirt into the dust bin. The other two, including the Ecovac, sweep the dirt to the center of the machine where it is suctioned into the dust bin. While both do an adequate job on hard surfaces, the two suction vacs don't work as well on carpet. The mop.... well it is a good idea and works fairly well for about 15 minutes. Then the water reservoir runs dry. My bedroom is 14' x 16', all hardwood floor, and 15 minutes is far from enough to do the job. If the floor is relatively clean, the mop does get it clean but after a week it is of little value. Pros: Very quiet. Only one I can run at night in the bedroom Does a good job on pet hair and litter from the cat boxes Runs for a long time - 1.5 to 2 hours on a single charge Easy to empty bin Programable Returns to docking station when the battery is low Cons: It can't always find its docking station Difficult to program The sweeping brushes friction fit on studs and frequently come loose (great cat toys) If you want to use the mop function the vac must be run as soon as the reservoir is filled or the water drains out on the floor. There is no button on the vac to tell it to return to the docking station. The remote control is finicky. Although it is programmed, it does not always come on at the programmed time. At the price, it is a good vacuum and I would not hesitate to recommend it for that. Compared to the other robo vacs I have it does the best job and requires the least maintenance. However, don't buy it for the mop function. Unless you are mopping a bathroom or a walk in closet, it is of little value. Follow up: After posting this review I received several emails from the company. For the most part, they were insulting. To program the vac you must wait until the time you want it to run and then, and only then, can you program it to run at that time. I want it to run in the middle of the night, every night, and have awakened at that time to do the programming. When I said it wasn't running every night, they didn't offer a solution, Instead, they suggested I should run it at another time. When I said it wasn't docking properly several times a week, they told me it won't dock if it is another room (it only runs in one room and they were told that). Then they wanted me to send them a video of it not docking. Duh..... they really want me to wake up at 2AM daily to make videos until I finally get one showing it not docking. They never did make any suggestions for the problem of it losing at least one of its brushes every other day. (If you have a cat, they could be anywhere.) After running this vac for a couple of months here is my new bottom line. As a vac, it now gets 4 stars. (I am tired of hunting for missing brushes). As a mop, it gets 1 star. Assistance from the manufacturer gets a -1 star. Price wise, it gets 3 stars. (You can get the same quality of performance from a number of less expensive vacs but I doubt you can find one that is quieter.) My new rating would be only 3 stars. Would I recommend it to a friend? Only if quiet operation is important. If the price is the issue, I would recommend the EHMONE Robot Vacuum.
