Still Going Strong After More Than 2,300 Days of Daily Usage
By Sam Fisher on Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2025
TL;DR: We've had these Sengled smart bulbs in our bedroom since 2018, and they're still going strong! Alexa controls them almost all the time. The setup was easy, and they're bright enough for the whole room (4 bulbs) without the typical LED flickering. Plus, they're durable – my kids keep stealing them for other lights! I think they last so long because they run cooler than regular bulbs. Full Review: We've been using these Sengled smart bulbs for the lights in our bedroom ceiling fan since November 2018, and I honestly can't recall a single issue we've had with them. We use Alexa to control them about 98% of the time. The other 2%? That's when we use the app, usually when Alexa is struggling to get the brightness level just right. But even that's become rare; we haven't had to use the app in at least a year. These (4) bulbs give off more than enough light to cover our entire room, and they've been used several times a day since day one. It's been nearly seven years of flawless operation, and they're still as bright as when we first got them. Installation, as I remember, was super simple, and that was the only time I had to deal with the setup. Even adding them to Alexa's Skills only took a few minutes; most of that time was spent coming up with and assigning them a name and group (room). When I first bought these, I never would have guessed that I would still be using them after 2,300 days of pretty much daily use. They're also surprisingly durable, especially since my kids think it's easier to take bulbs from our bedroom ceiling fan to replace a burnt-out bulb than to go get a new one from the hardware closet. I've lost count of how many times I've had to hunt these bulbs down to put them back! An incandescent bulb would have failed probably on the first move. They also run cooler than a standard incandescent bulb, which I think is a big reason why they've lasted so long. All in all, these are the longest lasting light bulbs I've even had making this purchase one of my wisest investments and that never really dawned on me until I started this review. I've probably changed every other bulb in our house at least twice during the period I've owned these. If you're looking for Smart reliable light bulbs with a surprisingly long life and flawless operation, these are your answer. --- Product: Sengled Smart LED Soft White (Element Classic) Starter Kit, 2 A19 Bulbs + Hub, 2700K, 60W Equivalent, Works with Alexa, Google Assistant & IFTTT ASIN: B01N2TVDYQ

Awful brand, but here’s a hack if you’re stuck with it
By Mad Melly Mom on Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2019
I hate doing returns with Amazon and I had already thrown the boxes away, or I would have immediately returned these as they are SO frustrating! I bought this kit and a pack of four floodlights by Sengled. I’m writing this to hopefully help someone out who encountered similar frustrations, as it took weeks to get ahold of Sengled help desk and they were no help, and I couldn’t find anything to answer my questions on the web. So the set up is ok the first time you use it— but if you’re like me, you probably screwed the bulbs in first and then opened the app to add them. Because that’s what every other company’s bulbs do!! Ugh. What you need to know is that in order to connect them, you have to scan a little QR code that’s on the bulb itself. So that meant taking them down one by one and scanning them. Not an easy thing to do!! This is my little hack for use as you’re setting up... after you’ve scanned the QR code, gently and carefully pull the sticker of the QR code off the bulb and put it on your phone while you climb down from the ladder. Peel from the end away from the code so it doesn’t get wrinkled. Do this for each bulb, keeping the stickers in order. Then, go put those stickers on your hub and label them and cover with a piece of clear tape. Then, when the power goes out, as it inevitably does, or the WiFi router is reset, as it also inevitably does, and you lose alllllllll connection to your bulbs, inevitably, you can easily delete them from the sengled app and scan the QR codes again without having to climb up and unscrew the bulbs to scan again! Make sure to place the stickers spaced out so you can scan one at a time— if they’re too close it’ll only read the top one in the window. Sometimes I’ve been able to do the flick thing after losing connection and they reconnect, but sometimes not and they’ll stay offline til you scan again Keep the lights off the whole time while you’re scanning. Once you’re ready to connect, flip the switch on and off 10 times super duper fast. You’ll see all the bulbs blink five times. If you don’t see all the bulbs flash, you’ll have to turn them off for a few and then try the flicking again. Don’t believe the app when it says they enter pairing mode on their own— do the flicking. It’s the only way to guarantee they’re in pairing mode. Many, many eyerolls for the idiots who designed this system. I’ll be replacing soon as I can save up some money for a new set.
