Protein packed!
By Angela Dinwiddie on Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2025
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Kodiak Cakes Power Cakes variety pack is my go-to for easy, protein-packed breakfasts. The mixes are super simple—just add water—and the whole grain texture is hearty without being heavy. The buttermilk pancakes are classic and fluffy, while the chocolate chip adds a nice sweet twist. Perfect for busy mornings! Protein content: Each serving packs a solid protein boost, helping keep me full and energized throughout the morning.

Incorrect Ingredients on Page -- Now with Whey Protein Concentrate
By Canis Majoris on Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2016
This star rating has nothing to do with the taste, nor the way it was sent. The reason is because of the incorrect ingredients listed on the product page, and more specifically, because Kodiak changed the ingredients for the worse for the original Whole Wheat, Oat & Honey waffle mix. Used to be, Whole Wheat, Oat & Honey (the original)'s ingredients were: 100% whole grain wheat flour, 100% whole grain oat flour, non-fat dry milk, dry honey (honey, wheat starch, leavening (monocalcium phosphate, sodium bicarbonate), egg whites, sea salt. Now, the ingredients are (and this is not listed on the Amazon page, nor Kodiak's main website): 100% whole grain wheat flour, 100% whole grain oat flour, non-fat dry milk, dry honey (honey, wheat starch), wheat protein isolate, leavening (monocalcium phosphate, sodium bicarbonate), whey protein concentrate, sea salt. See the difference? We get the benefit, now, of additional protein via *whey protein concentrate*. Normally extra protein is not a problem, however in this form there a problem. The process of creating most whey protein concentrate forms frees the amino acids from the protein, which, as a byproduct of this, contains extra 'ingredients....additives...however you want to call them' as a result of which can cause sensitivities and effects similar to those you have with MSG. The latter is something that I want to avoid as much as possible. The original formula was fine as listed above -- I first found out about them because a previous traveler had left a box behind in a room I had rented on a trip to Hawaii. They were easy to make and tasted like healthy pancakes -- I had them every morning as a result. Now that ( I believe ) all Kodiak cake mixes have whey protein added, I will no longer be buying them until they bring back the original recipe. Further, even if you do not care about eating whey protein, know the *correct* ingredients as I listed above, because the description on the page is incorrect. By the way, the rating is two instead of one, because all else being equal, these are fantastic pancakes and I hope they bring back the original, original.
