If you enjoy Alexa Products and considered adding Phillips Hue Lights to your Family Room, Bedroom or, Home Office, then look no further. I purchased an Echo Dot 4th Gen with a pair of Phillips hue lightbulbs. Pairong these bulbs to the Echo device (which has a built-in Hub, required for hands-free use) is easy through the Alexa APP. These bulbs can be dimmed to any percentage which is especially useful for rooms with large TV's. I am impressed, I can use voice command to turn my lights on in the ceiling fan of my home office which is down the Hall from where my Echo Dot sits in the Family room. NOTE: If your Smart TV has Amazon Prime and a Remote with voice cabpibility, you can use the remote as easily as saying, Alexa, turn on Office Lights. I will soon be adding these bulbs to the Master Bedroom and perhaps the Breakfast Nook.

Hue Bulbs Specs & Real Environment

Lifecycle is not so good. I have 12 bulbs A19 from Hue installed. Each bulb should last 25.000 h according to the specs. In my case, they should last about 5 years, but I have had 4 bulbs with less than this. Cases I have: 1. One bulb was not working in the moment I installed in the first time. I could not give it back because I using it in another country. 2. 3 bulbs last approximately 15.000 h. There are some unique advantages in hue technology, like the hub that controls the bulbs and bulbs work fine if you do not have internet, only the WiFi signal from the house. One weak point from the product is turn the lights on/off remotely. I mean, using the Internet. Sometimes, depending from the network, it doesn’t work, after that you need to go home first to reset the problem. It happens sometimes with me.
