Fluffy, Delicious, and Wholesome - A Breakfast Game-Changer!
By S_S on Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2023
I am delighted to share my experience with the Organic Pancake and Waffle Mix by Birch Benders! As a busy mom always on the lookout for healthier options for my family's breakfast, I couldn't be more satisfied with this product. The first thing I noticed when the package arrived was the attractive and eco-friendly packaging, which was a bonus as it is something I always appreciate. I was also pleased to see that the mix is non-GMO and made from whole grains, which adds a nutritional boost to our morning meals. The preparation is super simple - just add water and mix! There's no need for eggs or milk, which makes this a perfect option for those with dietary restrictions or allergies. The consistency of the batter is perfect, and I found it very easy to cook both pancakes and waffles without any sticking or mess. Now, let's talk about the taste. These pancakes and waffles are absolutely scrumptious! They have a nice, hearty texture and a subtly sweet flavor that goes well with our favorite toppings like fresh berries, maple syrup, and a dollop of whipped cream. My family loves the fluffy, golden-brown goodness, and I've even received compliments from guests who couldn't believe they were made from a mix. Another great feature is the resealable pouch, which helps maintain freshness and makes storage a breeze. The 16 oz size is perfect for my family, as it lasts for several breakfasts and allows me to whip up a delicious and nutritious meal in no time. In conclusion, Birch Benders' Organic Pancake and Waffle Mix has become a staple in our household. The combination of ease, taste, and nutrition make it a breakfast game-changer for us. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a convenient, healthy, and delicious pancake and waffle mix!

Returning to update review- surprising turn of events....
By SRK on Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2022
Second update: I went from 1 Star to 5 stars but I’m taking it back to 3 stars because it’s inconsistent and a bit temperamental. It’s not very user friendly. And I’m not a huge fan of the taste or consistency - but I was so amazed by the radical change of just adding water differently (because with a little further reflection it’s also how the water is added and the mixing technique) that I went from 1 to 5 out of disbelief. I didn’t recall all the nightmare we went through from just following the instructions and I was blinded from thinking about how this is also a lot more difficult to clean off of bowls and utensils and causes a very thick congealed water that I’m concerned can break the in sink erator disposal over time. So, anyways, enough people can’t make these fluffy and have commented & even posted pictures of similar results- that it’s not the most user friendly pancake mix. Updated Review: Unnerved and feeling ashamed of my post, I waited a few days and returned to this pancake mix. I added LESS WATER. DRAMATICALLY LESS WATER. I went by "eyeball" this time instead of following the measurements on the package. We realized that the water might be "steaming" the pancake starch and creating a gel like pancake or a too dense/rubbery pancake- which is a common fault in some of the comments so I felt a bit supported in my initial impressions... But how could I just walk away with such drama? I had to return, try again, and find a work around- for me, it is adding less water. It makes a brilliantly solid pancake that's also fluffy- surprisingly fluffy- I was shocked. So, as humiliating as it is to admit fault & defeat, I would like to update my review and admit that it might have been user error... (might is read as "highly likely)... haha. Original Review Title & Original Review: I’ve seen multiple people try to make them- run away Too much starch and probably not enough flour means these are more like gel that gets hot. You can create a skin on them but it’s not a pancake- it’s totally something else. We’ve been trying things like putting in the oven, microwave, etc to cook through and they still have a gel like texture. Really odd. It’s probably the high starch content- they use all these different types of starch- and you’re basically cooking homemade silly puddy. They don’t offer returns or refunds. I’m either going to mix into flour with additional leavening agents if needed or use to make pudding or something else. I can’t understand why people would go back and buy these again.
