Best carbon fiber filament for the money. Incredibly strong and durable.
By A Mazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2019
This is a great structural material. I have experience using Markforged Onyx, and this is like a budget version of that stuff. I haven't used NylonX, so I don't know how it compares. It would appear that the fiber chop is a little larger in this filament, and the filament diameter is a bit rough and variable because of that, however it still prints fairly smooth for me. I get a bit of oozing with a 0.6mm nozzle, so I would recommend a 0.4 or 0.5 instead and maybe a bit of increased retraction speed and distance. But as long as you get the settings dialed in otherwise, then the layer adhesion is amazing. The carbon fiber also adds rigidity to the otherwise flexible base of nylon. Thin walls will have a little bit of flex, but anything thicker than 4mm is going to be really stiff. Another thing I will say is that you need to be careful around this material as well. Sanding it creates very small dust particles that are hazardous to breathe in. So use a respirator and sand this stuff outside. It's also not great to handle finished parts because the material is a bit irritating (almost like raw fiberglass) and makes your hands itch. With that said, the best way to finish parts printed in this stuff would be to use a primer/filler to get a smooth surface, rather than sanding the print down. Then seal in the material with a top coat of some kind. I've used plasti-dip with pretty good results.

Extremely Inconsistent - VERY Comprehensive Review
By Meister Werks on Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2022
This is a comprehensive review, so please take the time to read though this before buying - At your own risk. ** Note: I have a inquiry into SainSmart concerning these rolls and WILL update this review, as soon as they get back to me. If it's not updated, they have not gotten back to me at of 12.31.2022 I purchased the ePA-CF roll for printing car parts for functional prototyping. We are printing on a modified Anycubic Kobra Max. The first print I did was a BBS RC wheel nut wrench, which printed great on the first shot. As you can see in the photos, the layer adhesion was fairly consistent and the print turned out pretty good. The wrench was solid and had practically zero flex. It functioned exactly as intended on the first try. The following day, I attempted to print an intake manifold runner for a 1980 BMW 635csi Euro spec M90 engine. The first 200-300 layers were 'ok' but after that it really started to print horrible. I am using everything you are suppose to with high temp CF printing: - Pre-print: 12 hours filament drying. (I did 24 hours just to be sure) - Bi-metal heat break. - Nickel plated Copper heat block. - Ruby tipped nozzle & high temp heat treated steel nozzle. (same results) - Upgraded Capricorn bowden tubes. - Converted printer to direct drive. *See thingiverse for our .stl files and links to convert your Vyper, Kobra, or Kobra Max to direct drive. When I purchased the rolls the description on Amazon said to print between 240c-260c. The label on both rolls says the same thing. i printed at 250c-255c on both prints. No temperature changes between 240c-260c make any difference. Tried many different setting changes with no avail. Unclogged the tips, recalibrated multiple times, and did hours and hours of research. In fact I spent so many hours, that I could probably troubleshoot any CF issue. Still, these rolls just WILL NOT PRINT. So, based off other reviews and my research, I'm chalking this up to bad, inconsistent manufactured rolls. This really makes me upset as I do not have time to waste. Hopefully my research will help you avoid the same problems. I've wasted countless hours and money trying to get this to work. I'll be switching brands now. I'd rather pay double for consistent rolls. I guess well see what SainSmart says, if or when they get back to me. Stay tuned.
