Received defective pods, poor quality control
By Nematoda on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2025
My coffee maker is the Ninja Espresso & Coffee Maker & Barista System. It is designed to use the original Nespresso pods. Although I've using and like the Rosso pods, I bought the Peet's pods because they were on sale and I wanted to try a different brand--plus I like Peet's ground and whole bean coffee. What I tried the first pod, however, the capsule didn't get punctured and so I got nothing but hot water. I tried 2 more pods. The same thing happened. I thought I had the wrong size, but I double checked and confirmed that the pods are for the ORIGINAL Nespresso machine. I finally figured out what the problem was. The bottom of most of the capsules was dented/crushed, so the capsules were too short. I noticed this when I compared the Peet's and Rosso pods, but didn't immediately make the connection. However, as I looked through the Peet's boxes, I can across an undented pod. I tried that ... and it worked. Overall, about half the pods were dented and presumably unusable. I have a picture showing the dented and undamaged pods side by side. Really bad quality control. Is that why they were on sale? Update. I've been able to try a few of the undamaged pods. Taste is generally fine, but I much prefer the Rosso pods.
