True percussion, 16mm.
By George Washington on Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2020
3/10/20 I have to admit that I came to Theragun after acquiring a less expensive no-name device on the Bay. After my massage therapist used the Hyper massage gun during a cupping session, I knew I wanted something better. This device won over the Hyper b/c: I love my body. 16mm vs NOT 16mm The handle design is genius. It’s perfectly balanced. 6 x rubber attachments (salves...) 2 x batteries Composed of high grade materials Head Pivots I returned the massage gun I acquired on the Bay. Here are my honest thoughts after using the no-name, the Hyper, and now Theragun. I’ll keep it short: The biggest difference I feel is that the Theragun feels like it taps (strikes) the muscle. I did not feel the tapping sensation as much when using the other devices. As I wanted a true percussion, which to me, mimics what my massage therapist does when she’s working a knot. To release knots, she rapidly presses on the knot a few times. The Theragun feels better, and I do not need to work an area as long, or apply as much pressure to feel the effects on knots and tender areas. I will post an update in a few weeks after daily use and putting it in the hands of my massage therapist, to use at my next session. There, I can once again compare the Theragun to its premium competitor device, the Hyper. Lastly, the packaging on this device is high quality, and the carrying case is also constructed of high quality materials. 4/8/20 Update: Due to the current situation, my monthly deep tissue massage appointments have been cancelled. HOWEVER, this device is so effective, I’m doing very well. With local gyms closed, I’ve had to dig into my bag of tricks that have been collecting dust since my military days when HIIT and regular runs composed my daily exercise regime. I’ve dusted off the kettlebells, Rogue weighted medicine ball (used for Wall Ball shots), 50 lbs dumbbell, and speed rope. I also recently made a 150 lbs sandbag out of an old Army issue duffle bag. All this made me realize how much I enjoy exercising outside, it’s such a joy. That said, this device has been heavenly. Yesterday’s workout included a 1 mile run followed by 400 double unders. After, I could feel my lower body respond to that activity; it was tight. I used the Theragun on both legs for a few minutes on each section and all the tightness dissipated. I still highly recommend, especially at the current reduced price point. I’ll update next month...

Defective product and poor customer service!
By Scott Mcclellan on Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2020
The Theragun worked great for 4 months. Then the cushioning dampener on the end of the shaft wouldn’t stay on. I tried to replace it with one of the other 5 dampeners that came with the unit, but they won’t fit on the shaft—too small and obviously intended for another model. I’m now trying to get help from Theragun but it’s not going well. They say they will send new dampeners when I return the old ones. But the forms they sent via email won’t print and they won’t mail them. Moreover, I explained via video that it is the attachment device on the end of the shaft is defective. They don’t seem at all interested in fixing that; in which case the new dampeners (if I ever receive them) will just fall off too. So after spending $500 for this Theragun, it is now useless after 4-5 months. (It was delivered on May 22, 2020.)
