Perfect for me, but with caveats for some
By Middle Bass Islander on Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2019
I love the TV and can give it five stars easily for picture, sound and ease of setup. But if you plan to use the Internet browser to watch some shows, you may be disappointed. I tested the TVs ability to play the Britbox and MhzChoice stations, both of which we watch a lot for European shows. The TV played shows from Britbox poorly, with images not filling the screen or having the right resolution. And it didn't play shows from MhzChoice at all, apparently because they use a video format not supported by Samsung yet in the browser. So I added a Roku device. I have loved Roku at my winter home for a few years with an older Sony TV but wasn't sure I would need it for the "Smart" Samsung. With Roku, Britbox and MhzChoice both work perfectly, and I don't even need to use the Roku remote. The Samsung remote handles the Roku stations just like any other. So I am able to watch everything I want to watch perfectly. A second caveat: Amazon Prime, which I also watch, allows a MhzChoice subscription. I tried that first with a free week, but MhzChoice on Amazon Prime offers only a tiny fraction of what full MhzChoice by itself does, and for about the same price. We use MhzChoice to watch French, German, Italian and Swedish mysteries and comedies, and much more, all with subtitles. In summary, the TV works perfectly for our needs after adding a Roku box. The Samsung TV's internet browser is not mature enough yet to watch some Internet stations.

Hateful and Useless
By Brett Baugh on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2020
Where to begin? How about the "smart remote"? The only thing more annoying about this TV than its remote (no number keys, no picture quality settings buttons like brightness and contrast, etc etc) is its lack of an audio connection (and that God-awful user interface, the "SmartHub" and settings managers, where you have to type email addresses and passwords using the "smart remote"). That's right; if you want to HEAR what you're watching, you *HAVE* to buy external equipment of some kind, and I don't mean headphones. There's nowhere to plug them in. Lately, all major companies have been in collusion to remove headphone jacks from everything to FORCE us to go buy half-ass-quality bluetooth crap, or a multi-thousand-dollar AVR. And don't tell me about SPDIF; it's useless, there's no way to control the volume. I had to get an HDMI-ARC audio extractor, and after spending a full day fruitlessly screwing with it, it either doesn't work at all, or I have no control over the volume and no mute button. I am definitely NOT going to continue using this TV. My old Sony Bravia was far superior in every way BUT picture quality. Sure, it looks great, but this is a TV built for androids and computers, not human beings. The "smarter" they make everything, the more humaneness it removes from the world. The more things like HDCP they shove down our throats, the harder they make life for us... and it doesn't inconvenience the PIRATES at all. They always find ways around it; we don't have that luxury. We're stuck with being helpessly screwed by the DMCA. HDMI should not EXIST, it's an abomination engineered by legislators and lobbyists, not engineers. We have no choice but putting up with whatever they do to us, of course; currently we have no protection from their greedy whims. That won't last forever. Remember that, corporations. The more you screw us over for your benefit, the closer to non-existence you come. It's inevitable. I just hope I live to see it. And just think. If this TV had had a two-cent 3.5mm headphone jack in it, this might've been a 4-star review. Consider THAT, you clueless corporate minions.
