Tasty and Healthy

This product is really good. It also comes in a strawberry that's even better. I mix it with ice and a banana in the blender. Gave it to my husband after he was recovering from surgery. It's a good source of nutrition without a lot of junky additive.

Poor ingredients

Cons: Know your ingredients: Based on the ingredients list of the Core Power protein shake, the following ingredients are commonly cited in research for their potential to cause or exacerbate inflammation, particularly in the gut: Carrageenan: This is a thickening agent derived from red seaweed. Studies, particularly in animals and some human cell line studies, have linked degraded and even food-grade carrageenan to intestinal inflammation, disruption of the gut lining, and exacerbation of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) like ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease in susceptible individuals. Cellulose Gel / Cellulose Gum (Carboxymethylcellulose - CMC): Used as a thickener and emulsifier, CMC has been linked in animal and in vitro studies to changes in gut microbiota composition, mucus barrier erosion, and promotion of intestinal inflammation. Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-K) and Sucralose: These are artificial sweeteners. Research suggests that these non-nutritive sweeteners may negatively impact the gut microbiome, potentially leading to dysbiosis (imbalance of gut bacteria) which can, in turn, contribute to inflammation in the gut and other tissues like the liver in animal models. Some studies also suggest a link to increased inflammation markers and potential exacerbation of IBD symptoms in susceptible individuals. It's important to note that while these ingredients have been associated with inflammatory effects in various studies, particularly at higher doses or in sensitive individuals, regulatory bodies often deem food-grade versions safe for general consumption at typical intake levels. However, individuals with pre-existing gut sensitivities or IBD may find it beneficial to limit or avoid products containing these additives. Pros: good flavor
