Heavy-duty metal frames and good Prizm lenses (cheaper alternative to polarized-lenses)
By Howard on Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2023
I like them - they are all black rounded aviator-like frames and lenses. And they don’t feel cheap at all - good heft to them. These are replacing my old Oakley Plaintiffs. That’s a huge step up, yes, but I wear Spy as well. I like the styles Oakley makes though, so I picked these up. To talk about the Prizm lenses and their effect - it’s noticeably NOT polarized, and no one should expect them to be. Prizm is different but not at all bad in comparison to polarized lenses. In full sunlight outside, it definitely helps contrast darker colors and edges. To describe it from my unique-visual experience; everything looks a slightly bit reddish-brown. Shadows are darker. So in overcast skies, it was a bit too dark for my liking. But in full sun, I have no complaints - everything appears clear and I have no glare/strain from the bright light of the day. Everyone’s eyes are different, so take this with a grain of salt 😎 That said, I have yet to get sweaty in them and see how well they hold up to a sweaty bald head - I imagine they’ll slip off, but there are grippy ear-slip pads, which don’t seem more than standard. In comparison to Spy’s “happy lenses technology,” Prizm is far superior (sorry Spy!). I was wearing Spy Montana frames with “happy lenses” and will now never go back…

Poor quality control from Oakley
By Lukas J Botha on Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2018
I was very impressed with Amazon's shipping time. My parcel was delivered a day earlier than predicted. As for my Crosshair, I am quite disappointed. The fit was perfect, but straight out of the box there was a noticeable squeaking sound coming from the left lense, when I open the arms and when I put it on. On closer investigation I noticed that the left lense is loose, with back and forth movement in the frame. Reluctant to ship the glasses back as I stay outside of the USA, I contacted Oakley South Africa and was given details of the closest sunglass store who sells the Oakley brand in the my area. The lady at the store was very helpful and concurred that the lense is sitting skew and is not lining up perfectly inside the frame seat. This was a very awkward situation for me, as I visited this store a few days prior and spoke to this very same sales lady, to inquire on price and availability for an Oakley Crosshair...exactly like this faulty one, which I had gone and bought online and was now seeking her assistance with. Nevertheless, I had to hand in my new glasses along with my purchase invoice for Oakley to assess. Now I am forced to wait patiently for the matter to be resolved and "they will get back to me" is all I have. This was my first online overseas purchase and I figured "what can go wrong, it's an Oakley?"...well now I know.
