Still going strong over 3 years later

Purchased this refurbished in June 2020 because at the time it seemed to be the top-of-the-line when it comes to routers. Still seems to be that way in Sept. 2023. I paired this with a Netgear 1Gig cable modem with 1Gig down/50 Mbps up cable internet service. Upload is faster than stated, but 1Gig download is usually in the 920's, which is kinda par for the course for 1 gig service. From day 1 this router has performed flawlessly as my home router. Centrally located, this router covers my 3,000 sq ft bi-level home and 1/4 acre property with no dead spots. I have almost 30 devices connected including Apple laptops, iPhones, iPads, TV's, receivers, printer, security cameras, garage door opener, thermostat, game systems, washer/dryer, and more, some hard-wired with ethernet, others on the 2.4 or 5 GHz band. It handles all of it with no slowdowns. I have a pretty basic set-up with just one SSID (no guest network). This router was easy to configure with the smartphone interface or the web browser interface. I have yet to try the USB 3 hard drive storage but may some day. Not sure why others report random disconnects, I've never experienced that. Only negative I can think of is the Netgear Armor security requires a subscription. After spending hundreds on this router, I'd prefer that to be included ... I hate being nickeled and dimed. But I've not needed the Armor security, so it doesn't make this router any less than a 5-star product. The only other con would be the high cost for this router. I highly recommend this Netgear router for the maximum in Wi-Fi speed and reliability. You can't go wrong with Netgear products. I've installed Netgear modems and routers for friends and family and never had any issues.

No help from tech support
By Tom on Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2020
We downloaded the setup app, and did the setup to the point where the Nighthawk was to connect to the Internet. It wouldn't connect, so I called Netgear tech support. Some fellow 10,000 miles away took about 30 seconds before he pronounced our Internet connection dead, there was nothing he could do, and I must contact my Internet provider. Never mind that our Internet was working perfectly up until the Nighthawk installation . . . and when I disconnected the Nighthawk and reconnected the old router, the Internet continued to work perfectly. What a devious Internet provider I have! Spectrum works perfectly for all devices . . . but knows to shut down ONLY for the Nighthawk router! Yes, the only explanation must be an Internet Service Provider conspiracy against Netgear! Heck with it. We are returning the Nighthawk and will continue using the Spectrum provided router. It's just annoying when some "genius" tech support guy refuses to take any responsibility for doing his job.
