Pantene Shampoo & Conditioner Set

This shampoo and conditioner set is highly rated in many reviews on Amazon and across social media. On a tight budget, with parched long, fine, thin, and splitting locks, I thought I'd give it a go because the price for the bundle was a good value. I have greying middle-aged tresses that are not color- or chemically-treated, and while I have scalp psoriasis, it usually isn't bothered by haircare products as long as I rinse them out well and shampoo/condition at least every other day. I have used this product for over a month without switching to others. Over the first week of use, the shampoo cleansed well but left my scalp pretty tight and left some residue behind while ironically leaving my hair stripped. My hair did have more volume, though. The scent was overwhelming and burned my respiratory system. When a bit of shampoo got in my eyes, it burned badly and required a lot of rinsing. I always wring as much water as possible from my hair before applying any conditioner, then comb a generous amount through and clip my hair up while finishing my shower before rinsing it out with cool water. The conditioner smoothed my hair well but didn't hydrate well enough or cling to my hair after rinsing. Fortunately, the scent wasn't as powerful as that of the shampoo. I had to use a separate leave-in conditioner after towel drying my hair to add more moisture because my hair was too dry and felt like straw otherwise. But, on the plus side, my hair was fuller and had more waves than before. After about a week of using the set, I found that my scalp psoriasis was getting worse with several new breakouts. Since I haven't changed any other products, my psoriasis medication, or related self-care, one or both of these products is the culprit. Continued use over a month caused more breakouts and the existing plaques failed to heal well. If you have: - Psoriasis - Other dermatologic conditions - Sensitive skin - Really dry hair and/or scalp - Fragrance allergies Probably do yourself a favor and avoid this shampoo and conditioner set.
