Defective Battery?

Battery discharges quickly. I charged the product as per instruction. First time i used it to warm up a room temp 50z water to 120f it took about 10mins and the battery went down to 2 bars. Second time, same water level and temp from 2 bars it went up to 3 bars, third time it went off after a few minutes. Tried using it the second time, same issue. Too bad i mistakenly ordered 2 and returned the other one, i could have tried it first.
