Where has this been all my life??? Tied for most used appliance in my kitchen!

After our first random air fryer purchase up and died on us, it was time to search for a new one. When we bought our first one, there were less options and we just went with one that we had used in the workplace. Surprisingly, that air fryer lasted us about 8 years so there are no complaints considering the price we paid at the time and that it was a no name one. Now that air fryers have been around a lot longer and become a more common kitchen appliance, I wanted to find something that would fit more with our cooking needs. Enter this Ninja air fryer. I'll admit, in the beginning I had some misgivings about the brand in general as I own no other Ninja products but I know many who do. I opted to do lots of research so that this next air fryer would be the perfect kitchen companion for us. After reading through many actual kitchen tests and top ten lists and comparing all the pros and cons against what we needed...we chose this Ninja model. Now even after comparing the dimensions to our old air fryer, it still didn't prepare me for the massiveness of this beast and that is a good thing. Many of the top rated lists clearly state that this is a larger unit, good for parties and large families. I expected it but was still surprised (in a good way) by the size of this. The big thing we wanted was capacity to run multiple racks at once and be able to monitor the cooking process. This Ninja air fryer is truly like a mini convection oven with extra bells and whistles. After playing around with this and testing out different functions -- I am left wondering how we didn't realize that this was out there and an option. It makes it seem like we were slumming it with our last air fryer. There are so many things that I love about this. The option to turn the inner light on/off at will (no more using a flashlight to check your cooking). The true fan that will make circulating the heat way more efficient (no more needing to turn or rotate food). The ability to change time or temperature in the middle of cooking WITHOUT it resetting the whole thing-so I love being able to add another minute or turn up or down the temps without it starting all over again. The fact that there is a pan/basket/grill accessory for every cooking need you might need (I also bought an extra wire basket as that is the the one we use the most). The large glass front that makes viewing your food super easy so you can easily gauge whether you need more time or less time...all without having to open it. The ease of choosing functions and the easy user interface that makes temp and time choice a no brainer for anyone to use--perfect. The only thing I was not expecting is the sound when this is in use. Yes, it is louder than our last but I actually prefer that for the sole reason that I can hear if this air fryer is still cooking even if I'm in the next room. Now, it's not like I hear it from down the hall or anything but the adjacent rooms can hear this and now we joke that an airplane is taking off whenever we use this. It's not like you are sleeping when you use this so the noise thing is not a deal breaker in any way for me. This air fryer has found it's way to the top 2 appliances used in our household and I could not imagine being without our Vitamix blender OR this air fryer...we use both daily. The large size makes cooking a lot quicker, a word on that--if you do not need the larger size and instead want speed, opt for a smaller unit as this is bigger it takes more time to heat and cook BUT it will still be faster than using a regular sized oven. Everything that we have cooked in this so far has been easy to do and cooked well. The accessories are easy to obtain from Ninja or Amazon and reasonably priced. I look forward to a long and healthy relationship with this Ninja air fryer!

This is a compact countertop all-purpose oven not a "toaster oven".

Update 12/27/24 Sigh.............The replacement oven I received only a month ago has already quit. The display now displays "CALL CUST SRVC ER 3" and will not do anything else. Apparently, from what I can surmise from the little info the csr could give me, it's an overheating issue due to the cooling fan (not the big convection fan) not running after a cook. Ninja has sent me another base oven but I have to pay 23 USD for shipping again. I'm not going to lie.........this is very disappointing. It calls into question the quality of Ninja products as a whole. This is going to be the 3rd oven in less than a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!While I am very satisfied with customer service I can no longer endorse the product itself. I feel, despite it's many good points, I have to take away 3 stars from my review. The fact is if it wasn't for the customer service this oven would be receiving a 1 star review instead of 2 star review. This was my first Ninja product and it will probably be my last. Update 12/01/2024: I actually cooked a 13.5 lb. turkey in this oven and it turned out pretty much the same as if I did it in my conventional convection oven with one difference. It only took two hrs. at only 325 F and reaching 170 F (directions said to cook to 180 F ?????? Tenting it in foil and carryover let it reach 179 F.) internal at the thigh using the "whole roast" setting and manual temp. setting. It was nicely browned and wasn't burnt at all on the top of the breast where it was closest to the heating elements. The breasts were still very juice and did not dry out at all to my surprise. Usually I have to cook my Thanksgiving turkeys in a huge enameled oval dutch oven I inherited from my grandmother in order for the breasts not to total dry out. Update 11/15/2024: Unfortunately about a week a go the fan in the back of the oven stopped working. I contacted Shark/Ninja about the fan stopping and since I was still within the 1 yr limited warranty they sent me out the oven base (I still had the racks, the cookware and the thermometer from the oven that quit working so Ninja just sent me the oven itself.....which is perfectly acceptable.) free of charge except for shipping which was a little under 25 USD. I got the base and it was brand new NOT a returned oven.....which was very pleasantly surprising. Also I was only on the phone with Ninja for less than 10 min. before they authorized a replacement base oven. I am extremely happy wth Ninja's customer service so I am going to bump up the rating from 4 to 5 stars. Now with that being said hopefully this oven will last more than 5 or 6 months. OG Review: I love this countertop oven and it can do anything and then some of what a full size conventional convection oven can. With it's two tier cooking capabilities it's great for making whole meals (I chose this older model over the dual oven due to smaller size constraints with the dual oven design. It's actually close if not the same overall size but contains two seperate compartments limiting the size of what you can cook.). Now while this is a great general purpose oven it's "air frying" capabilities tend not to be on par with most decent "drawer-type" dedicated air fryers. Don't misunderstand, this oven "air fries" perfectly fine it just needs more time and a little higher temperature due to it having a much higher area to heat. This tends to be the case with even smaller capacity "oven-style" air fryers as well. The "no flip" feature is actually not just an advertising gimmick either. it actually works. I believe it's due to the fact that the convection fan is positioned in back and not to the side as well as it having a heating element around the fan. I also see alot of people complaining about how loud the fan is but the higher speeds of the fan is what allows it to be an "air-fryer". The one thing I don't like about this countertop oven is it's a beast to clean being a stainless steel interior. It's impossible to keep clean primarily due to the fact you really can't use very powerful cleaners because you'll actually damage and degrade the interior if you do. Overall the 4 months I have been using this oven pretty much six days a week (haven't used my conventional oven since I got this) I am pleasantly surprised how much I like this oven. It was definitely worth the 229 USD I got it on sale for and I most likely would have still purchased it at the 329 USD usual price.
