For best results, shampoo first with hot water to open hair shaft filaments and release oils. Rinse, then shampoo again. Rinse again with warm water and apply conditioner through to ends. Grab bunches of hair and squeeze conditioner into hair. Then rinse with cool water this time, very briefly, without rinsing it all out.
