5.0 out of 5 stars | Best-Tasting Protein Bar I’ve Tried, Hands Down!
By Ashe on Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2025
I’ve been on a quest for the perfect protein bar for years, having tried at least 20 different brands and countless flavors over time—everything from chalky, overly sweet bars to ones that taste like cardboard. Barebells Protein Bars are, by far, the best I’ve ever tasted, and they’ve become my go-to for a quick, satisfying protein boost. The taste is phenomenal—no artificial aftertaste, which is a huge issue with most bars I’ve tried. Whether it’s the Chocolate Dough or Salted Peanut Caramel, the flavors are rich, natural, and indulgent without feeling like a chemical overload. The texture is the real standout: perfectly chewy yet firm, not crumbly or waxy like some competitors. It’s the kind of bar you actually look forward to eating. The macros are solid—around 20g of protein per bar with reasonable carbs and fats, making it great for post-workout recovery or a mid-day snack. At roughly $2–$3 per bar (depending on the pack size), the price is competitive for the protein content, especially compared to pricier brands with less satisfying flavors. The variety of flavors keeps things fresh; I’ve enjoyed every one I’ve tried, and there’s something for every mood. The only downside is the delivery time. Sometimes, it takes a week or more to arrive, which can be frustrating if I’m running low. I’d recommend ordering ahead to avoid the wait. That said, the quality more than makes up for it. If you’re tired of artificial-tasting protein bars and want one with great texture, solid macros, and a price that doesn’t break the bank, Barebells is the way to go. I’m hooked and will keep these in my rotation!

Too expensive. Not worth it.

6/26/25 Revision: Upon reflection, I am amending my rating of this product from 1 star to 3. Quite frankly: these are a very good protein supplement. The bars have good stats (low sugar, decent fiber, etc), and eating one makes you feel like you're cheating on your gym diet. That said, the price is a little exorbitant. Even at $30 a box, that's $2.50 a bar. I would expect to pay that price for a single item, 20g protein bar in a grocery store or gas station. Buying online and in bulk, the price should be lower. Despite tasting good, there is nothing special about these bars. The protein content is average, and the price keeps going up and up, so my recommendation is to move along. Original post: I've been purchasing Barebells Protein Bars Creamy Crisp almost monthly since April of 2023. They are quite possibly the best protein bar supplement I've ever had...when they were $28 dollars for a 12-pack. Even then, they were a bit spendy but I could justify it because of the high quality of the product: 20g of protein, 3g fiber, very low sugar and very low sodium. These bars have been my go-to for those times when I just can't chug down ANOTHER shake, or if I'm on the go and need something to throw in my briefcase or luggage. Now that they're $39-46 dollars a box...I'm done. I know these bars are made in Croatia, and that country was just levied a 10% tariff, but why did this product go up almost 40% in cost? Regardless, I'm done with Barebells.
