Kinsive Ultrasonic Retainer Cleaner

I have not had very good luck with these small ultrasonic cleaners. The type with a power convertor unit (left side, first photo) has a tendency to leak fluid (water with cleaning tablets) into the electronics due to faulty gasket between metal container and plastic surround and they can last anywhere from days to months. The cleaning tablets may be somewhat caustic. I now seal them with silicone RTV as soon as I get them and that seems to have cured the issue . . . at last. I had higher hopes for this one because it had a direct AC cord supply and it seemed to be better made. However; after only a week, suddenly it would not light up or operate and I decided to open it to have a look. I started my work life as an electronics technician with amateur radio and commercial radiotelphone licenses and various certificatios. I am an electro-mechanical tinkerer. As you can see in the second photo, it was clean and dry inside with no signs of liquid intrusion. I noted that the gasket was held in place by more than the typical four screws or friction fit. In the third and fourth images it is easy to see that the paper insulation material failed and the circuitry became "carbonized." Perhaps I was just unlucky. I did not contact the manufacturer. I threw it away and bought another brand with the typical AC to low-power DC convertor and I sealed the new unit (two of them) with silicone RTV.
