Fans of Doug’s Stereo System are still in shock this morning after it was announced that two members would be leaving the band.

In a statement released to the press, the duo cited creative differences with the kind of music Doug’s Stereo System wanted to play. “While we are proud of all we have accomplished,” it reads, “we feel the need to do more than just reproduce a full-range of frequencies and lifelike sound imaging for sci-fi/fantasy soundtracks and electro-pop bands. So, after a lot of careful consideration, we believe it’s time for us to use our fully-adjustable and uniquely pivoting tweeters for something new and move on.”

The duo, now calling itself Pioneer 6.5” 2-Way In-Ceiling CST Speaker (Pair), joined Doug’s Stereo System only months ago, bringing with them a frequency response of 32Hz – 40KHz and space-saving design that allows for simple installation. They were instantly a hit with the role-players that would gather at Doug’s Basement every Sunday, often thrilling guest during renditions of Tangerine Dream’s “Loved By The Sun” and Limahl’s “Never Ending Story.” But many noted their apparent displeasure with their situation. Several complaints by the pair were voice in interviews, some concerning how no one with management enough to paint their frames or grills so that they might blend in better with their environment.

While many comments online range from sorrow to disbelief that the two will be able to play anything without a connection to Doug’s Stereo System, the duo tried to put their fans at ease. “Don’t worry. We’ll be back in another ceiling soon. You haven’t heard the last from us. We just won’t be playing America’s ‘The Last Unicorn’ anytime in the near future.”

CST is essentially a three-dimensional-aligned sound source for the low-frequency and high-frequency drivers, capable of reproducing a full-range of frequencies and lifelike imaging
It has the ability to direct the high frequencies toward your listening position by incorporating a unique pivoting (aluminum-dome) tweeter. For optimal performance, the loudspeakers should be placed an equal distance from your listening position and separated so that the angle between them, at the listening position, is between 40 and 60 degrees
The output of the tweeter can be adjusted to compensate for speaker placement/listening positions that are less than ideal. The “0” position is designed to provide the smoothest frequency response on axis. If the high frequency response is considered to be too strong or too weak, the tweeter level can be increased (”+”) or decreased (“-“) to suit your listening preference
The low-frequency output can be adjusted to compensate for the loss of bass within the ceiling structure. This switch offers two positions to suit your listening preference; the “0” position is set for standard low-frequency output, and the “-” position is set for decreased bass output
With its space-saving design of only 4-1/2” mounting depth, this speaker offers you maximum flexibility of being able to install it anywhere
With a frequency response of 32Hz – 40KHz, this speaker reproduces a full sound range from deep bass tones to ultra-high frequencies
Locate your speaker location, cut the drywall (1/2” – 1” rock), connect the speaker wires and mount the loudspeaker; it’s that simple. This speaker includes a cutting template and integrated dog-ear brackets for retrofit applications
